Tuesday's Tidbits

-As much as I hate North Carolina, it is nice to see a group of guys come back for their senior year and win a National Championship. The hated Tar Heels knocked off Michigan State 89-72 last night in Detroit to capture their 2nd crown in 5 years.
Not surprisingly Tyler Hansbrough was NOT named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, that honor went to Wayne Ellington. I hope Tar Heels fans are ready for "Psycho T" to play 10 minutes a year in the Association next year.

-Quite possibly the greatest Hall of Fame class of all time was announced at the Final Four yesterday. The list included Michael Jordan, David Robinson, John Stockton, Jerry Sloan, and C. Vivian Stringer. I don't know if we will ever see a class in any sport that rivals this one. The greatest player of all time, one of the greatest big men in league history, the greatest point guard of all time (sorry Magic fans, just look at the numbers), and two of the greatest coaches in their respective games ever. Congrats to all.

Entertainment
-Singer Chris Brown pleaded not guilty on felony assault charges yesterday in an LA court. The charges stem from an argument that turned violent between Brown and his girlfriend, Rihanna. You stay classy Chris Brown.

-Speaking of staying classy, DJ Samantha Ronson's family is seeking a restraining order against her ex-girlfriend Lindsay Lohan. The couple reportedly has split up after numerous fights, and public spats. I'm surprised I was able to sleep last night after worrying so much about them.

Business
-According to reports, General Motors is in earnest preparation for possibly bankruptcy. The company has talked about preferring to restructure out of court, but they would go to court if needed. Rough times for sure in Detroit.

-In a little bright news out of the auto industry, Ford Motor Company has reduced their debt by 38%, or $9.9 billion. The news was well received by share holders who sent Ford's stock up 13%.

Wednesday Morning's Are Like...

-It appears that Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers have agreed to a two-year deal, worth $45m. I'm still a little shocked that the Dodgers were willing to pay that price for Manny when it appeared that there were no other suitors for his services. But then again when you have the best agent in the business on your side things tend to work in your favor.

-Speaking of Boras clients. It appears that the Yankees may ask Alex Rodriguez to skip the World Baseball Classic. A-Rod has been experiencing some stiffness in his hip which has developed a cyst according to an MRI. Now I don't claim to be a doctor, but can't a cyst develop after receiving injections? Hahahaha. Oh boy.

-The Coast Guard has suspended the search for 3 people missing on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, free-agent Corey Smith, and former South Florida player William Bleakley have been missing since Saturday. Just a sad, sad story.

-According to Giants GM, Jerry Reese his team would welcome back troubled WR Plaxico Burress, assuming Burress' legal problems were all cleared up. Is there ever going to be a point where a team in any sport is going to tell a player to just stay away? We don't want to be associated with known felons, who shoot themselves in the leg. I understand that Plax might be able to contribute to your club, but at what cost? I think we will see some of this when Michael Vick is released from prison this summer.

-It was a happy senior night at Cameron Indoor last night. Big game coming up this weekend against North Carolina where the ACC Regular Season title will be on the line.

-The NBA writers over at Sports Illustrated have handicapped the NBA's awards season with a month and half to play. Call me a homer, but if the Jazz finish in the top 4 of the Western Conference and Jerry Sloan doesn't win Coach of the Year it will be a travesty.

-Maybe LeBron should have followed Dwight Howard's advice before the game. It would have made Anderson Varejao happier.
