I figured this deserved it's own post. Mainly because Greg Oden gets dunked on in 3 of the 10.

-It's such a great time of year to be an NBA fan. The Playoffs continued last night with 3 games. The Cavs tried to blow a 29 point 4th quarter lead, but LeBron James wasn't about to let that happen. The King had 29 points and 13 rebounds to lead Cleveland to a 94-82 victory over Detroit.

-One of the most underrated players in the Association helped lead the Blazers to a 107-103 win over the Rockets. Brandon Roy dropped in 42 points and 7 rebounds for Portland. Roy may be underrated, but his teammate Greg Oden continues to be one of the most overrated players in the land. Oden played 11 minutes last night and had 4 points and 4 rebounds, 3 of which were offensive. Not a bad line, one that you'd probably be happy about as a fan, but it's quite easy to get 4 boards when you record 6 fouls in 11 minutes jumping all over everyone! Ugh, I will have another rant on him one day soon.

-This never happened. It's a good thing I spent 4 hours in a sports bar watching what didn't happen last night. That may need to be my destination for all future Jazz Playoff games.

Entertainment
-The Govenator may make his return to the Terminator series. With the 4th installment of the movie series coming out in May, the California Governor doesn't have the time to film any scenes, but the producers of the movie are working on using him image from the earlier Terminator movies to put into Terminator: Salvation. Good work California.

-American Idol judge, Paula Abdul told Dateline that she has never been drunk in her life. Eh.... so you're telling me that you are just that stupid naturally? I'd rather think you were drunk on the air as opposed to just being a moron. I'm just saying.

News
-The CFO of struggling financial company, Freddie Mac, was found dead of an apparent suicide at his home in Virginia. David Kellerman was 41 years old, married with a young daughter. Truly just another sad story of our economic problems. Police are investigating Kellerman's death.

-President Barack Obama is in Iowa today to discuss his alternative energy plan on Earth Day. Obama is expected to tour a wind energy plant and also take a look at trying to create more jobs based on the plant which was closed down in 2007.

Tuesday's Trip Around The World... Of Sports That Is

-What a ball game last night in Miami. The Cavs rallied down 11 in the 4th quarter to win by 7 in South Beach. LeBron James and Dwayne Wade put on a show. James finished with 42 points, Wade finished with 41. There is nothing like it in sports when a player decides he is not going to let his team lose, and just absolutely takes over the game. D-Wade did that Saturday night against the Knicks and King James did that last night against the Heat.

-TJ Houshmandzadeh has agreed to a 5-year deal with the Seahawks. The deal is for $40m and calls for TJ to receive $15m guaranteed. No word yet on whether or not the Seahawks will play this commercial over and over on the JumboTron at Qwest Field.

-Seriously? Just go away Barry.

-Greg Oden continues to prove me right. You know it's never a good sign when your coach sees you running up and down the floor and says "it doesn't look good."

-Carmelo Anthony shows why he will never lead a team to a championship. Anthony has been suspended by the Nuggets for what the team is calling an "in-game transgression". You stay classy Carmelo.

Wacky Wednesday

-Providence rode the strength of a huge first half to upset #1 Pittsburgh last night on Senior Night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Does anyone want to be #1 this year in College Hoops? UNC? Duke? Pitt? UConn? Anyone?

-NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has voluntairly taken a 20% paycut. The NFL has dropped 169 jobs during the economic downturn. Goodell was schedule to make $11m in salary and bonuses this year. I'm sure David Stern, and Bud Selig were thrilled when they heard the news.

-The New York Knicks have finally parted ways with Stephon Marbury. After paying him nearly $21m to do absolutely nothing this year, they have agreed to buyout the remainder of his contract so he will be free to sign with any other team in the NBA. It looks like Marbury will sign with the Celtics.

-Apparently Greg Anderson enjoys spending time behind bars. Barry Bonds' former personal trainer will apparently not testify against Bonds in his upcoming perjury trial which is expected to get underway on Monday. I wonder what kind of prision Anderson enjoys more.

-I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

-Apparently in the current economic climate Americans are spending a lot of time watching TV, and using the computer. Now if only I could convince people to read this blog.

-Alta is the place to be. Apparently my brother wasn't crazy when he decided to name his daughter after a ski resort. Interesting development.

-I found this article in the vault at Sports Illustrated. It is a fantastic piece talking about how Nike is taking over the sports world. Only it was written in 1993.

Greg Oden Suffers Bone Chip

According to ESPN, Portland "rookie", Greg Oden has suffered a bone chip in his left knee. He is out for tonight's game against Memphis, and is listed as day-to-day.

All year long I have been mentioning how Oden does not scare me to anyone who will listen. For a guy who was as highly touted as he was coming out of Ohio State he has to start to be labeled as a bust. He only is averaging 9 points, and 7 rebounds in 23 minutes a game. Obviously his playing time is limited by his injuries, but at what point can we just call him an injury proned draft bust?

Compare Oden to a guy like Marc Gasol, who was taken 48th overall in the same draft as Oden. He is playing 30 minutes a game, and averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds, and has played in all 53 of Memphis' game this year. Who would you rather have on your team?

Another 7-footer from the 2007 draft, Spencer Hawes. For $3m less per season you can have a guy who has roughly the same numbers as Oden (10 and 6 in 27 minutes). Oh by the way Hawes has played in 50 of Sacramento's 54 games this season.

Want more? OK. How about Yi Jianlian?Yi has missed some time this season, but he was hurt playing defense. Something that apparently Greg Oden is still strugglingwith. Jianlian has numbers very similar to Spencer Hawes. He is averaging 10 and 6 in 26 minutes per, and is only on the books for $2.9m this season.

Why do I keep mentioning salaries for these teams? Well apparently Portland is going to have some issues with their salary cap in the upcoming seasons, and having Oden on the books for $25m+ for the next 3 seasons could pose a problem.
