As you can see, it is has been a little while since the last Morning Brew. But no need to fear.... today is no different. No Brew for a while. I will still be posting relevant links on the 8 Hours To Kill Twitter feed (visible on the right hand side of the screen as well).

I was finally able to catch last week's episode of Jersey Shore over the weekend. Let me just say this was one of the best hours of TV ever. I have a hard time posting recaps of the show because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, so let me just throw out my favorite quotes from this episode:

Oh man, just go ahead and do yourself a favor and head over to the Jersey Shore website and watch last week's episode. You will not be disappointed.

-Can't get enough Tiger Woods news? Well apparently neither can I. Woods was named the PGA Tour's Player of the Year for 2009. This is the 10th time that Tiger has won the award in his 13 years on the Tour. He won 6 times this year on the Tour, and captured his 2nd FedEx Cup, and the $10 million bonus that comes along with it. The award is voted on by other members of the PGA Tour.

-Two major fast food chains are proving that sex really does sell everything, even hamburgers. Carl's Jr., and Burger King have both launched advertisements that are hoping to capture the attention of young men all over the world. One ad allows users to watch a bikini clad women take a shower and allows viewers to choose which song she will sing, while the other will allow consumers to have an online lunch date with Kim Kardashian. Still not quite sure what the prize is for that.

-Time Magazine has posted its 10 Worst TV Shows of 2009. The fact that they decided to add Jersey Shore to this list automatically discredits them in this guy's opinion.

-James Cameron's new blockbuster film, Avatar, captured the weekend's war at the box office. The film brought in $73 million. That was on the low end of early studio estimates, but considering that the Eastern Seaboard was buried under a massive snow storm, this is considered a huge success for the director's first movie since The Titanic in 1997.

-Actress Brittany Murphy passed away over the weekend. The actress who appeared in 8 Mile, and Clueless among others was only 32 years old. Foul play is not suspected in her death. The actress was apparently ill in the days before her death appears to have died from natural causes. An autopsy will be performed this week to determine the actual cause of death.

Slow day today for decent links. Is everyone hungover from watching Jersey Shore last night?

-As I first mentioned yesterday on our Twitter account, Pepsi has decided not to advertise during this year's Super Bowl. This will be the first year since 1986 that the beverage giant will not have an ad during the NFL's Championship Game. Ads for this year's game are in the $2.5-$3 million range for a 30-second spot.

-Just a few days after the Golden Globe Awards were announced, we now have the 2010 Screen Actors Guild Nominees. The awards are voted on by the members of the Guild, and will be handed out on January 23rd, and will air on both TNT, and TBS.

-I posted a link a few days ago about General Motors threatening to shut down Saab if no potential buyers emerged. Well, that didn't take long. 3,400 employees of the Swedish automaker will be affected by the closing of the company.

-GQ has put together a slide show of their top 12 Cover Girl's of the decade. For all the men out there who read this, you're welcome.

Oh, by the way today is Thursday, which means a new episode of Jersey Shore tonight on MTV.

-Just a day after Tiger Woods received some good news by being named the AP's Athlete of the Decade, a report has surfaced that Tiger's wife, Elin, is seeking a divorce from the golf superstar. The move can't really be questioned by anyone with a brain after the allegations that have come against Woods in the past few weeks, but the big question now is, how much will Elin get in the settlement?

-Some tragic news this morning from the NFL. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, Chris Henry has died following an accident in Charlotte. The troubled wide out who attended West Virginia University was involved in an apparent domestic dispute with his fiancee, and fell out of the back of a pickup truck that she was driving. Henry had been arrested 5 times after being drafted in 2005, but had seemingly turned the corner before this tragic accident. While homicide detectives have been assigned to this case, no arrests have been made.

-In a post that is clearly directed towards my wife, John Krasinski sat down with the USA Today to discuss his role in the new movie It's Complicated which co-stars Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin. Vegas has placed the odds at 3 to 2 that the picture on this article will be my wife's new background on her computer.

-People Magazine's issue that is set to hit newsstands tomorrow, will feature its 25 Most Intriguing People of 2009. Notables that are going to be featured on the list are Taylor Swift, Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Kate Gosselin, and of course the Kardashian sisters.

-I will finish out today's post with a hilarious clip from The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you, The Mormon Christmas Song!

Is it Thursday night yet? I need my Jersey Shore fix!

-In what can only be viewed as a minor upset, I was not voted Time Magazine's Person of the Year. Instead the honor went to Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke. In a year where the financial markets dominated the news, Bernanke helped lead the United States economy out of the worst recession since the Great Depression. Interesting to note that this honor comes just a day ahead of a vote scheduled on Capitol Hill on whether or not Bernanke will be given a second 4-year term as Chairman.

-Finally some good news for Tiger Woods. The Associated Press announced this morning that Woods has been voted the Athlete of the Decade. Despite all of the negative press that Woods has garnered in the past 3 weeks, Tiger's performance on the course this decade could not be overlooked. Some of the stats in this article are mind boggling. Lance Armstrong, Roger Federer, Michael Phelps, Tom Brady, and Usain Bolt, were all among the top 6 by members of the AP.

-Domino's Pizza is changing their core pizza recipe. The world's largest pizza delivery company is changing every part of their pie. Despite being the leading seller in pizza's nationwide, Domino's was recently voted (along with Chuck-E-Cheese) as having the worst tasting pizza among leading chains. It is hard to fathom how a company can have the worst tasting pizza, yet still be #1 in sales. Doesn't quite add up to me. Oh well.

-Saab, GM's Swedish car manufacturer, only sold 371 vehicles in November, down over 56% from the same month a year ago. General Motors has announced that if no suitable buyers emerge by the end of the year they plan on shutting down their Saab division.

-The Washington D.C. city council has passed a measure that will legalize same-sex marriage. The bill was passed by an 11-2 margin. While Congress will still need to vote on it, the mayor of D.C. has already said he will sign the bill.

-The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced their class of 2010 this morning. Headlining this year's class is ABBA. Despite my constant ~~complaints~~ pleas, Bon Joviwas not inducted this year. Inducting The Hollies before Bon Jovi makes about as much sense as cheating on your Swedish model wife, and leaving a voicemail on your lovers phone with your name on it.

Let's just pretend that this never happened last night. Let's get on with today's brew...

-The nominees for the 67th Annual Golden Globe awards were announced this morning. Some of my favorites are mixed in. Jeremy Piven is nominated for best supporting actor for his role as Ari Gold on Entourage, which was also nominated for Best Comedy along with The Office. The award show will take place on January 16th.

-Speaking of Golden Globe nominees, the nominee for Best Comedy Movie, The Hangover was released today on DVD. Just do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. It's the best movie of the year, no questions asked.

-Two Wisconsin women received plea deals for charges of super gluing a cheating man's penis to his stomach. Neither woman will spend any time in jail. You know, sometimes the jokes just write themselves.

-In an attempt to prevent anyone who isn't a UNC fan from having any fun, Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams had an opposing fan ejected from a recent North Carolina home game against Presbyterian College. Apparently the fan stood up and cheered for Deon Thompson to miss a free throw which angered the all mighty coach. Numerous reports suggest that the fan, Brian King, did not use any profanities or say anything vulgar, but the thought of someone rooting against the Baby Blue was too much for Williams to handle as he immediately had security remove the fan. Give me a break.

-ESPN has put together their list of the top 25 games of the decade. The slide show highlights some of the most compelling games of the decade. This is a must look for any sports fan. Some great moments indeed.

In what hopefully will become a new Monday tradition, I am going to highlight some of my favorite moments from this past week's episode of Jersey Shore. (BTW, you can click on that link and watch all of the episodes, the perfect time killer at work!)

If you haven't watched the episode, and don't want it spoiled for you please feel free to cruise down to today's links.

The fact that Angelina had that fake cough going all episode was reason enough to kick her out, but being to hungover to work pushed Danny over the edge. SHE GONE! At least she was classy enough to try and start a fight with The Situation on her way out the door.

The love triangle between The Situation, Ronnie, and Sammi escalated this week, and ended up with Ronnie on the dance floor with another woman, and Sammi getting pissed. Somehow I think she will get over it, and they can get back to canoodling in the guest room ASAP.

Oh, Snooki. Between making out with her friend in the jacuzzi, and asking The Situation to do things that are only acceptable in prison, you made your family proud this week.

J-Woww (yes that two W's) broke up with her boyfriend. She then gave us the quote that will excite Guidos all over Jersey for the rest of the season: " the whole world better watch out now that I'm single, because I've been a “Catholic nun” all this time now." Can't wait to see how that turns out!

Final thought: does anyone else find it ironic that they spent a night out a club called "Karma"? Hmmmm.....

OK, on with today's links:

-Tiger Woods announced on his website Friday afternoon that he is taking an indefinite leave from the PGA Tour. Speculation is flying all over the sports radio airwaves as well as blogs about when Woods will return to a sport that so desperately needs him. The biggest issue that no one has mentioned so far? This is the final year of the PGA Tour's TV contract. If Tiger decided to take the entire season off, how will that affect ratings, and how much money will the Tour lose in their contract negotiations? Could be interesting.

-Being from Utah, I am not a huge fan of stereotypes, but I did find this interesting tidbit from the state of West Virginia. In the Mountaineer state, 1 out of 5 babies are born to a mom who used drugs or alcohol during their pregnancy. Oh well!

-IMDB.com announced its top stars of 2009. Twilight star, Robert Pattinson is the website's #1 celebrity of the year. Obviously this award has nothing to do with good acting, as anyone who has seen New Moon could attest. Sorry wife!

-New York City continues to be the greatest city in the world. On Friday the city unveiled world's largest Menorah in honor of the first night of Hanukkah. Very cool.

Good news, I woke up this morning and it was exactly 0 degrees. Which means that it's time for a new post! I can't believe how cold it has been in Utah this week. You know it's bad that you are excited that it is 14 degrees on your way to the office.

Before we get started just wanted to wish a Happy Hanukkah to everyone who is lighting their first candle tonight.

-I don't know how many of you use Amazon's Kindle, but it really is a first class device. The USA Today ran an article today comparing all of the e-reader devices out there. Pretty interesting stuff, and definitely a must read if you are planning on picking one up for the holiday season.

-Oh, Jersey Shore! While I haven't had a chance to catch last night's all new episode (a full recap will come on Monday), that doesn't mean there is a lack of coverage today. Apparently the Jersey Shore Visitors and Convention Bureau, are not thrilled with how the city is being projected. I'm shocked! I mean, why wouldn't you want to be projected as the Guido capital of the United States? You obviously have some fantastic bars, and t-shirt stores, why wouldn't someone want to travel there? I know I do, I need to get my fist pumping on!

-Planning on grabbing a Frosty from Wendy's on your next trip through Tokyo? Not so fast my friends! The company announced today that it is removing it's 71 restaurants from Japan by as early as the end of the month. No specifics are given in the article, but I'm sure McDonald's long standing tradition in Japan played a large role in the company's decision.

-The man who is accused of making secret video tapes of ESPN's Erin Andrews, is set to plead guilty to interstate stalking charges. Michael Barrett is accused of altering the peep hole in 3 different hotels that Andrews was staying in and secretly taping her in the nude while she was in the "privacy" of her hotel room. He could face up to 5 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

-The Tiger Woods saga continues to get weirder by the second. ESPN's Bill Simmons, is calling it the story of the decade. I mean can anyone really argue that?

-I broke down some of my favorite parts from MTV's Jersey Shore in yesterday's entry, if you are a true fan of the show (which we all know you are), than you MUST listen to ESPN's BS Report with Bill Simmons. The Sports Guy, and his guest, Dave Jacoby, go in depth on all the "characters" as well as different aspects of the Jersey Shore in general. Truly an amazing 56 minutes of podcast history.

-In a story that no longer surprises anyone, Tiger Woods' mother-in-law was taken by ambulance from Woods' Isleworth home early Tuesday morning. Barbro Holmberg is being listed in stable condition after being transported to Health Central Hospital for stomach pains. Although this seems to just be a coincidence considering what has transpired in Tiger's life the past 2 weeks, I'm sure this will draw more attention than needed over the next 12 hours.

-In other ground breaking reality television news, it seems that beginning on March 15th, 2010, VH1 will air "Basketball Wives" a show featuring wives and girlfriends of NBA players that showcases their lavish lifestyles, all while hoping their spouses are faithful. Shaunie O'Neal, the now ex-wife of Shaquille O'Neal, is listed as an executive producer as well as one of the stars of the show. I wonder how early is too early to set my DVR?

-The results are in for the top selling music, and musicians of the decade. Eminem is at the top of the list for best selling artist of the decade, while The Beatles album "1", is the top selling album narrowly edging out 'N Sync's No Strings Attached. Pretty interesting list that will take you back through the decade of music. Definitely worth checking out.

-Speaking of end of the decade lists, Daniel Powter's, Bad Day has been named the the one hit wonder of the decade. The song gained a huge following as it was featured as the "good-bye" song on American Idol a few years back. There are definitely some classics on this list that will take you back.

Before I get on with today's Brew, I have to talk about Jersey Shore. What a fantastic entertainment program. I really don't even know where to start. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who has it on a DVR and hasn't caught it yet, but the fact that nobody in the house calls "Snooki" by her actual nickname and instead settles on "Snickers", and "Snookams" cracked me up. Mike, aka "The Situation" is slowly becoming one of my favorite TV characters of all time. If this guy lived any where else but Staten Island, he seems like he would be a normal dude. But because he wants to be a "guido" he now is selling woman's underwear that say "I love The Situation". Oh, and Pauly D, has a tanning bed in his house. Need I say more? Do yourself a favor and watch the show. DVR it, it will only take you 90 minutes to watch the 2 hour premier and it is certainly worth your time.

Ok, now on with the Brew...

-USA Today ran a great feature on new Nike CEO Mark Parker. As a shoe fanatic I found this article fascinating on so many levels. Parker began his career at Nike as a shoe designer and has worked his way to the top. This is a man who has some big ideas moving forward for the athletic apparel leader.

-In an effort to keep my wife happy, I will also link to this story which features 5 questions with Etsy CEO, Maria Thomas. Etsy is an online marketplace that allows people to sell their homemade goods. I would expand on it, but I have no clue what else it does.

-Moneyball, the book that chronicled Billy Beane's ideas of crafting a baseball team with castoffs from other teams, is being made into a movie. Variety is reporting that Brad Pitt will star as Beane in the Bennett Miller movie. No word yet on a release date.

-Another former WWE wrestler is dead before the age of 40. Edward Fatu, 36, died Friday of a heart attack in Houston. Better known as "Umaga", Fatu joins a list of professional wrestlers who have tragically died before the age of 40. While there are house hearings taking place for the BCS, and for steroid abuse in MLB, when will someone step up and figure out how to stop these pro-wrestler's from dying before having a mid-life crisis? Such a sad story.

I did not get a chance to watch the new MTV series, Jersey Shore last night. But don't you worry, I will be sure to catch the 2-hour premier via my DVR sometime over the weekend. Anyway, onto the real stories of the day.

-The Director of the United States Secret Service, Mark Sullivan, appeared in a house hearing yesterday on Capital Hill to discuss the mistakes the Secret Service made in allowing Tareq, and Michaele Salahi to crash President Obama's first State Dinner last week at the White House. During the hearing Sullivan admitted that the Secret Service made a mistake. He also mentioned that he was relieved that no lives were lost as a result of their mistake. No kidding? Good work Mr. Sullivan!

-Speaking of the Salahi's, I posted a link to this article from the Washington Post yesterday on our Twitter Account, which mentions how Michaele faked her way into a Washington Redskins Cheerleader position. I don't know if this story can get any better.

-In honor of the new George Clooney movie, Up In The Air, USA Today has an in-depth feature on big spending frequent fliers and the treatment they receive from airlines. I don't know why this is so fascinating to me, but for some reason it is. For any of you out there who are close to reaching a certain milestone in your frequent flier program make sure to give this article a glance.

-The United States Jobless Rate has dipped to 10 percent in November. This can only mean good things for a blog dedicated to getting people through their work day, right? I mean you are telling your co-workers about us, aren't you?

I'm too cold to think of anything entertaining to start today's post, let's just get on with it.

-Media giant, Comcast, is set to purchase NBC Universal from General Electric for a whopping $37.25 billion. Some questions still need to be answered by an anti-trust regulators, and Congress still have some questions with the deal, but don't expect this one to get held up for long.

-The 2010 Grammy Nominations were announced last night during a live concert event. Beyonce and Taylor Swift led the way with 10, and 8 nominations respectively. Lady Gaga was given 5 nominations. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame snubs (thus far), Bon Jovi, were nominated for Pop Duo or Group With Vocals. Bank on it.

-The Tiger Woods story continues. According to this MSNBC report it seems Tiger and his wife Elin are receiving “intense marriage counseling”. While speculation continues to fly, there are still no solid reports saying whether or not the couple has a prenuptial agreement. Reportedly Mrs. Woods is being payed a 7-figure salary to remain as Mrs. Woods. Not a bad gig if you can get it.

-This is nice. A 72-year old Wal-Mart greeter just outside of Pittsburgh, was punched in the face by a 55-year old. According to the story the attack appeared to be unprovoked. You stay classy Pennslyvanaia.

-Big props to the New Jersey Nets as they set the record for the worst start in NBA history last night, losing to the Mavs 117-101. I'm sure the Russian Billionaire who is set to purchase the club is thrilled with his potential investment.

-OHHHHHHHH Tiger! In both entries so far this week I told you that the Tiger Woods situation was about to blow up. Well, boom goes the dynamite. I am finding it hard to believe that someone who is as well known as Tiger would honestly think that if he had an affair that the woman would keep it a secret. Does he not understand that women are crazy? Woods did post a statement on his website today that apologized for his transgressions. Smooth.

-Who throws a shoe, honestly? Well it seems that famed Iraqi shoe thrower, Muntadhar al-Zeidi, has tasted his own medicine. While making an appearance in Paris the TV Journalist dodged the copy cat attempt, and then joked that "he stole my technique".

-President Obama rolled out his plan for Afghanistan in an address to the nation last night. Obama announced that the will be sending 30,000 additional troops overseas, with some being deployed as early as this month. The announcement also came with a plan to remove troops from Afghanistan by July 2011.

-Has anyone seen my resume? I need to send it to Rihanna to apply to be her pool guy. Thanks.

-If you have spent any time in Las Vegas over the past 5 years you were sure to notice the construction of the City Center. Well, more than 10,000 workers blood, sweat, and tears are about to pay off. The City Center's Vdara was unveiled yesterday. 1,500 more hotel rooms are now available on the Las Vegas strip. The $8.5 billion development will be opened in phases throughout the next few months.

-The now, former Executive Director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, Donald Fehr, admitted in a USA Today interview that he regrets the 1994 player's strike and the canceling of the World Series. Um... on behalf of all baseball fans around the country, so do we Don, so do we.

-Yesterday I mentioned how more and more would be coming out in the Tiger Woods single car accident story. Well the alleged "other woman", Rachel Uchitel, gave an exclusive interview to the NY Post. Great reading here, and I have to say that I totally believe her. It's amazing what people will say when they are offered $25,000 by a tabloid magazine.

-Thinking of texting a link to 8 Hours To Kill on Twitter? Well if you are in North Carolina, or Colorado that is now illegal. You're welcome Bernal family.

-President Barack Obama will address the nation tonight at 6 PM (MST) to discuss the sending of 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Just a hunch, but I've got a feeling you will be able to find this on your TV. If not CNN.com will be carrying it live.

-Former NBA player, Antoine Walker, has agreed to pay back over $900,000 to three different Las Vegas casinos. Walker owes the money for writing bad checks to the casinos. He will pay $13,000 per month over five years according to the agreement. Walker's story is well worth a read.

-In the first Cyber Monday that 8 Hours To Kill posted deals on Twitter, sales were up 11%. Coincidence? I'll let you decide.

-The late Michael Jackson has replaced Britney Spears as Yahoo's Most Searched Person in 2009. Spears had been number one on the list for the past 4 years. I find it odd that two of the ten are things that I have never heard of.

-New York Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter, has been named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year. The Yankees captain helped lead the Bronx Bombers to the 2009 World Series Championship while having his best offensive year in recent memory. Jeter was also awarded the Gold Glove for American League Shortstops. While the Sportsman of the Year award is obviously an athletic award, what Jeter has done with his Turn 2 Foundation should not be overlooked.

Thanks to all the readers for putting up with the lengthy delay between posts. With the holidays and some family business to attend to I have not had the time to update, but we should be back in the full swing of things for the next little while. So without further ado, let's get on with today's Morning Brew.

-In what is slowly becoming the most intriguing TMZ story of all time (slightly ahead of Jon and Kate Plus 8), Tiger Woods was involved in a single car accident on Friday morning. There have been numerous reports that Woods and his supermodel wife, Elin Nordegren, were involved in a domestic dispute moments before the crash. These are accusations that Woods vehemently denies. I'm sure there will be a lot more coming out on this story in the coming week.

-$41.2 billion were spent over the long holiday weekend by consumers. Sales were slightly up over 2008 numbers as consumers spent $10.66 billion on Black Friday alone. Early reports on Cyber Monday are giving big numbers to online retailers. There are nearly 4 million people shopping online every minute on the biggest online shopping day of the year.

-The West Virginia Humane Society had their own Black Friday sale this past weekend. The society removed all adoption fees on animals with dark fur, who are normally the least likely to be adopted according to studies. Very cool idea back east.

-The Idaho Supreme Court has thrown out a lawsuit from a couple ~~of idiots~~ claiming that the Fort Hall casino turned them into compulsive gamblers which forced them to lose their jobs, and houses. Stephen Wynn you may have won this battle, but I will get my money back!

-As if further evidence was needed, it appears that The Real Housewives television shows are ruining our country. A couple who is hopeful of being cast on Bravo's upcoming season featured in Washington D.C., crashed a White House state dinner last Tuesday night. Both, President Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden, were in attendance at the dinner. While the couple were not on the invited guest list, they still had to go through the same security measures as the actual invited guests. Good work Secret Service.

-I don't know why I find this so fascinating, but the Atlanta Airport is offering "Sleep Rooms" to travelers who have extra time to kill in the airport. The 7 foot by 8 foot rooms include a day bed with fresh linen, and sound blocking technology to allow the travelers to rest without the noise from the airport. If I ever have a layover in ATL you had better believe I will be giving this a shot.

Greetings non-workers,
Sorry for the lack of updates the past few days. I will be out for the remainder of the week. With the holiday at the end of the week though, your work week will go by just as fast as if you were reading the blog!

Tough to get excited to make today's Brew when I just found out that the Billy Joel/Elton John concert tomorrow night in Salt Lake has been postponed. Can someone please send some Tamiflu to the concert promoter? Thanks a ton.

-West Virginia Senator, Robert Byrd, set a longevity record yesterday, working his 20,774th day as a US Senator. The 91-year old former KKK member (it's true, read the story) entered the house on January 3rd, 1953. I believe I heard yesterday on Fox News that Byrd has served under 11 different Presidents. If you can name all 11 Presidents that Byrd has served under WITHOUT looking it up I will put a picture of you, or whatever you want as tomorrow's headline. Leave it in the comments section of this post.

-The Trump Tower in Chicago is now the 6th tallest building in the world. The tower was previously number seven on the list, but due to the fact that The Donald and his hair were on the top floor when the most recent measurements were taken he has moved up a spot on the list. Okay, maybe that isn't the real reason, but it was sure fun to Google pictures of Donald Trump's hair.

-Even with the news of the concert postponement that I mentioned above, it is still a great day in the music world. The greatest band of all-time, Bon Jovi, is currently #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums. The Circle is the band's 4th #1 album. I'm still waiting for someone to explain how they are not in the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. I will continue my lifetime boycott of going to the city of Cleveland until this happens.

-It's no wonder Cosmo Kramer went on strike. H&H's owner, Helmer Toro, has been charged with pocketing nearly $370,000 in income and other taxes that were withheld from his employee's checks. H&H is considered one of the world's leading bagel manufacturers.

I'm not quite sure how I made it through the last 3 days without any Jazz games to entertain myself. Looking forward to a nice stretch of 11 out of 14 in the 'Tah!

-In San Clemente, California at the San Onofre State Beach, there is a 1,000 foot stretch which has allowed nude sunbathing for more than 30 years. Unfortunately it seems it's time to put some clothes back on. Park Rangers are going to be on the lookout for nude sunbathers, and will begin arresting those in the buff. Fines will go up to $500 for each offense. I think more than anything you need to click on this link just to see the photo of the lawyer who is defending the nudists. Don't worry, it is safe to view at work.

-Is Twitter the next big thing in customer service? This USA Today article lists 3 dozen different national companies that are using the social media site to help frustrated consumers, including 20 who are offering after hours help. Speaking of Twitter, you can always follow us @8HoursToKill.

-I about fell out of my chair this morning reading an article about the Afghanistan game Buzkashi. Apparently in this game men on horses gallop around trying to capture a dead goat who has had it's head removed. Yes, you read that correctly. Even more exciting is that the leader of the Buzkashi Federation is pushing for this to become an Olympic sport. Seriously, just read the article. I'm sure advertisers all around the world will be falling all over themselves to make sure they get some ad time during this event.

-America's favorite woman's soccer player, Elizabeth Lambert, has apologized for her actions in a game against BYU on November 5th. Lambert believes that some of her actions were misinterpreted, or taken out of context. No, I'm pretty sure that I interpreted her yanking an opponent to the ground by her pony tail the correct way. Good thing it took you nearly 2 weeks to issue an apology though Miss Lambert. Class act.

-People Magazine has named it's Sexiest Man Alive for 2009. In a mild upset, I was not awarded the crown. Interesting. Anyone know where I can demand a re-count?

-Is there anything more entertaining in sports than a coach making fun of a reporter in a post game press conference? Me thinks not.

Why are you following Perez Hilton on Twitter, but not 8 Hours To Kill? Go on and do it, I'll wait...

-After spending over 7 weeks in Amazon's Top 100 BEFORE it was released, Sarah Palin's book, Going Rouge: An American Life hits bookstores today. Political ~~nerds~~ enthusiasts from around the country are turning off C-SPAN today to check out the former Alaska Governor, and Vice-Presidential's autobiography. I on the other hand am watching my clock and hoping it magically says 5:00.

-As someone who makes part of his living on tips, I have often wondered what the standard protocol for tipping at a hotel is. USA Today had a very informative article today about how much you should tip to different hotel employees. The story also includes a graph at the bottom that shows different services that I forgot even existed at hotels. Next time I'm traveling, I definitely need to request an extra phone book.

-Wholesale warehouse store, Costco, is no longer carrying Coca-Cola products. The store is in a pricing dispute with the beverage company, and is refusing to sell their product in it's 560 stores nationwide. No word on how long this dispute will last, but this could have a huge effect on vending machine companies, and Jack Mormon's everywhere.

-Co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The 56 year old who previously has beaten Hodgskin's disease 25 years ago, was diagnosed at the beginning of the month and has already begun to undergo treatment. Scary stuff, even for a man who is worth over $11 billion. Our thoughts are with the Allen family.

-Not sure if you had a chance to check out this video of 86-year old Tennessee Titans owner, Bud Adams, flipping off the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The NFL has fined the ~~crazy old dude~~ long-time owner, $250,000. Although I am pretty sure that the entertainment value for this video is close to that total.

-While shoppers all around the country will be looking for deals on electronics, and toys on the day after Thanksgiving, it turns out that Black Friday is also the best day of the year to buy a car. The average discount for a vehicle on November 27th of this year is projected to be nearly 7.5%. The average discount during a regular day of the year is around 4.7%.

I'm too cold to think of an interesting introduction today. It was 28 degrees on my way to work this morning. So glad I still live in Utah...

-As I mentioned in Friday's Morning Brew I really enjoy the News From Every State section in the USA Today. This morning there was a dandy from the state of Washington. A man from Everett decided to shoplift a $6 mechanical pencil. Upon his arrest it was discovered that he had over $600 in his wallet. Maybe he didn't want to break a $100? Here is a picture of the man after his arrest.

-Just when you thought you couldn't get enough Britney Spears in your life, her new application (app) for the iPhone, and iPod Touch was released today. I wonder if there is an app that will slap someone in the face for paying $1.99 for the "It's Britney" app. An App Slap! That's what we'll call it!

-Fox News has given us a slide show of the 9 Worst Nude scenes of all time. Don't worry, this slide show does not contain any nudity and is perfectly safe for viewing at work. In fact, it may be encouraged.

-Oh Elizabeth Lambert. You're disregard for all things sportsmanship has led to an awesome dating service video. I don't know what guy wouldn't want to go out with you. What a catch!

-With all of the negative stories you read about NFL players, sometimes stories like this one tend to get overlooked. Browns WR/KR, Josh Cribbs, went out of his way to make sure a high school senior would never forget his final football game.

-Sunday Morning Movie Madness made it's triumphant return to my life yesterday, the wife and I saw Pirate Radio. I really enjoyed the show. I thought Phillip Seymour Hoffman was outstanding. The movie had great music throughout. Also it had a different title in the USA as compared to everywhere else. If you are planning on seeing this film in London, look for "The Boat That Rocked". You're welcome England.

-Nothing like the fear of being kicked out of our country to make you plead guilty. The parents of the 6-year old "Balloon Boy" plead guilty this morning to charges of being dumbasses. The boy's mother is a Japanese citizen living in America legally, but felt that they needed to plead guilty to avoid more severe punishment that could involve her deportation. No word on whether or not Japan would even take her back.

-Whatever happened to the separation of church and state? By the way, this was posted in the Religion section of the USA Today.

-The News from Each State section is one of my favorites each morning in the USA Today. While they don't post it online, which is preventing me from linking to this story, Florida's post for today was outstanding. Apparently 6 members of the Florida Anti-Drug Task Force are going to be re-trained after video shows them in the middle of raid at someone's house stopping to play video games. Hmmmm.... Still waiting to hear if the training is anything like a day at the Stanford office of Dunder Mifflin.

-I posted this video yesterday on our Twitter account, but it is worth re-posting today. Former Miss California, Carrie Prejean, decided that even after CNN's Larry King changed the subject that he was being inappropriate. So she preformed the weakest storm off attempt in human history. Quality entertainment in this video.

-A group that represents nearly 80% of Burger King's franchises is suing the fast food company over it's $1 Double Cheeseburger promotion. The franchises are upset because the cost to produce the Double Cheeseburger is about $1.10 depending on the location. The promotion was twice rejected by BK franchises after a test run in certain markets earlier this year. Good thing you went ahead with the promo though.

-You know, there comes a time in every blogger's life when he just has to link stories that will keep his wife happy. You're welcome.

-Someone's alma matter is headed to the state championship game. Good luck Red Devils!

This just continues to depress me. I feel like a Republican when Sarah Palin was named VP Candidate. Not good times.

-Sometimes things are just meant to be. This story absolutely proves that. A man was about to propose to his girlfriend on a hot air balloon when he dropped the ring over the side of the basket to the forest floor 500 feet below. What happened next could only mean that this couple is meant for each other.

-Over the past couple of days I have posted videos of violence in woman's soccer, including the top moment in the history of The Mountain Sports Channel, the incident between a New Mexico and BYU soccer player. Well Christine Brennan had a chance to sit down with New Mexico head coach Kit Vela, to discuss what transpired. While I am not quite a soccer expert, some of the tackles that Elizabeth Lambert made were not exactly in "the flow of the game", sorry coach but you're not even close to right on this one.

-Lou Dobbs, who was the last of the original CNN anchors still at the news network, has left CNN. While CNN President, Jonathan Kline, called the split "totally amicable", one would think that the fact that Fox News Corp's Shepard Smith pulling in nearly 2 million more viewers at the same time slot might have had something to do with it. It was also just announced that John King will take over for Dobbs starting next year.

-Randy Lewis of the LA Times had a chance to catch up with Taylor Swift after the singer captured 4 CMA Awards last night in Nashville, including Entertainer of the Year. Pretty refreshing to read just how genuinely happy she is to win these awards.

-Speaking of refreshing, how about Chicago Tribune columnist, Rick Morrissey literally eating his own words? Morrissey wrote a column back in 2007 about Joakim Noah, and how he thought he would be a bust in the NBA. Well, now that Noah is averaging a double-double, (not the hamburger)he has decided to own up to a promise he made to his readers. The video is about 6 minutes long, but I highly recommend checking out the last 90 seconds or so to watch Noah jumping around, and also telling him to "roll it up", probably not the first time Joakim has said that before.

First and foremost, Happy Veteran's Day to all of our men and women who are currently serving our country, and to all those who have done so in the past. The courage that you all show in allowing us to have our freedoms is something that I am forever grateful for. THANK YOU!

-As I posted on Friday, there are numerous businesses offering free, or discounted meals or goods to all Veterans today. If you, or someone you know is a Veteran please pass this link along to them so they can take full advantage of some of these offers.

-For some reason this article about the guy who came up with the $5 Footlong idea for Subway fascinated me. Subway has generated $3.8 billion in $5 Footlong Sandwiches, that is over 760 Million sandwiches. Whoa!

-Donald Trump is upgrading his private plane. What does that mean for the rest of us? Well if you've got between $4 and $8 million you can purchase his 1968 Boeing 727. The plane has some over the top features (big shocker, I know) that include a queen size bed, gold plated sinks, and a bidet. No word on whether or not it comes with any locks of The Donald's hair.

-Google got you a present. If you are planning on traveling during the upcoming holiday season check your local airport for free WiFi. The company is paying the bill for free WiFi in 47 airports, ranging from chic Miami International, to the um... not so chic Bozeman, MT regional airport. Can someone please make sure Bozeman knows what WiFi is all about? Thanks.

-In yesterday's post I linked to a video of a fight between the New Mexico and BYU Woman's Soccer teams. Well not to be outdone, the violence has spread to the high school ranks. Thanks to @clbernal for sending along the link to our Twitter account.

-Most of you know that I am big Utah Jazz fan. I have done some writings for SLCDunk.com this season. The creator of that website has created VoteDeron.com a site designed to help send Deron Williams to his first all-star game this year in his hometown of Dallas. I highly recommend checking out the website, and also voting for Deron (and other Jazz players) on your 2010 All-Star Ballots.

Considering that I e-mailed yesterday's "post" from the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, and today I am sitting at my desk typing while staring at my clock and hoping it says 5:00, you can probably guess how excited I am to be back at work. Anyway, here's the brew...

-With Veteran's Day coming up tomorrow, I found an outstanding article in the USA Today about a group of senior citizens who greet our troops at the Bangor International Airport. The Maine airport is one that is mainly used for troops that are going and coming to and from Iraq and Afghanistan. Totally worth your time to read this one.

-Not sure if you had a chance to see this clip from the BYU/New Mexico Woman's Soccer game from over the weekend. Oh. My. Goodness. You know if I am linking a video from a woman's soccer game, that it must be good. I'm sure this is exactly what the NCAA had in mind with it's code of conduct.

-John Allen Muhammad, the mastermind behind the sniper attacks in Washington D.C. in 2002, executed tonight in Virginia. Governor Tim Kaine denied Muhammad's request for clemency which has cleared the way for tonight's execution. The other person involved in the attacks, Lee Boyd Malvo, is currently serving a life sentence with no chance of parole.

-The NBA's all time leading scorer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is receiving treatment for a rare form of leukemia. The six-time NBA Most Valuable Player was diagnosed with the condition nearly a year ago, but has decided to make his battle public in the hopes of helping others. -Every male aged 22-27 needs to know that Kelly Kapowski is pregnant. While reports state that Tiffani Thiessen's husband, Brady Smith, is the father, we are still awaiting test results that Zack Morris is not somehow involved.

-The Greatest Band of All-Time has a new album out today. Could someone please explain to me how Bon Jovi is not all ready in the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame? While This Magic Moment is a great song, I somehow feel that the boys from New Jersey deserve the induction a little more than The Drifters did in 1988.

Morning Brew for 11/6

-While most of the news items that I post on here inspire some sort of joke, there is nothing funny about the tragedy that took place at Fort Hood yesterday. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is accused of opening fire at a military processing center, killing 13 people. Despite early reports that the Hasan was shot and killed, he is in stable condition. My thoughts are with all those at Fort Hood.

-The two Northwest Airlines pilots who over shot the Minneapolis International Airport by 150 miles, have appealed their license revocations with the National Transportation Safety Board. Hopefully the NTSB will exercise a little common sense and keep these two idiots out of the air.

-In a related story US Airways pilot Chesley Sullenberger has been named as the Grand Marshall of the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade. "Sully" is of course known for helping save the passengers of a US Airways flight that was forced to land in the Hudson River shortly after take off earlier this year. This year's theme for the parade is "A Cut Above the Rest". Certainly they made a great choice for Grand Marshall.

-Remember The Office episode where Michael tries to check Meredith into rehab against her will? Well if Dunder-Mifflin was in Alaska, that wouldn't be a problem. The state has adopted a law that will keep alcoholics for 48 hours before deciding if they are sober enough to be released. Something tells me this could be a great fraternity joke.

-Wednesday November, 11th is Veterans Day. To help honor those who have defended our freedom, many restaurants are providing free meals to veterans. Kudos to all the different restaurants that are participating in this program.

-Just hours after leading the Yankees to their 27th World Championship, manager Joe Girardi helped flagged down help after being the first person to come across a car accident on his drive home. According to reports Girardi put himself in some danger by running across the parkway near a blind curve where drivers apparently reach speeds of 80 MPH. Good for him for doing the right thing.

I'm on a plane this afternoon bound for Las Vegas. Hopefully we will have time to get the Moron of the Week posted. If not make sure to check out the Twitter Account for new links throughout the day.

-In Monday's Morning Brew I mentioned how Kellogg's cereals were going to help prevent you from getting the Swine Flu. Well, apparently that was just a goof. The cereal maker has decided to pull the immunity claim off of its boxes of Cocoa Krispies, and Rice Krispies. So I guess we are all stuck with getting a regular old flu shot. Too bad.

-The New York Yankees captured their 27th World Championship last night in The Bronx with a 7-3 victory of the Philadelphia Phillies. Free agent to be, Hideki Matsui, was named the World Series MVP. I have been searching for a clip of Fox's Chris Rose doing perhaps the worst job of all time interviewing "Jetes", and "Mo" last night after the game. What a joke that guys was. If you happen to see a clip of it, please send it in.

-Michael Jordan's son, Marcus Jordan, is a basketball player at the University of Central Florida, which is an adidas school. When UCF played their first exhibition game this week the younger Jordan decided to wear Air Jordan shoes on the floor which is a direct violation of the school's contract with adidas. This nullifies the shoe companies contract with the school which will end up costing the university nearly $5 million. Hmmm.... and my wife thought that I paid too much for shoes. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes the Jordan Brand, or Nike to become the new apparel provider for UCF.

-AT&T has filed a lawsuit against Verizon Wireless over their "There's a Map For That" ads. AT&T is claiming that the ads are going to mislead Midwest users into thinking that their service is useless. They are asking for the ads to be pulled ASAP.

-The Bro Bible has posted The 15 Best Man Caves on the Internet. I don't think there is a man alive that wouldn't kill to have his own Man Cave. Some of the pictures they show here are incredible.

I'm still trying to get over last night's Jazz game. The good news is, I have someone to blame. Thanks Ross!

-As we exclusively reported yesterday, Tuesday was Election Day across the United States. Here is a list of some of the notable races around the country. Most importantly I will now have something to do if and when I take a trip to Ohio. Does this make Lebron's personal casino legal? Hmmmm....

-Good news for beer lovers, states around the country are nearly doubling the alcohol content in beer. Some beers will now have a legal alcohol by volume of 13.9%, up from 6%. The newer, more potent beers will cost more than a regular 6-pack however.

-The Louisiana Justice of the Peace who refused to marry an interracial couple has resigned. Keith Bardwell refused to marry the couple based on his belief that it was unfair to the couple's potential children to come from an interracial home. I thought that making my "Moron of the Week" pick was going to be more difficult. Good riddance Mr. Bardwell!

-American billionaire, Warren Buffett has taken his model train enthusiasm to a new level. Buffett's company Berkshire Hathaway purchased Burlington Northern for a mere $34 billion. The company is the nation's largest rail transporter of coal and grain, also transports electronics and consumer goods as well as imported cars from both Toyota and Honda.

-Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin will share the duties of hosting the 82nd Academy Awards. The show which is scheduled for March 7th, will be Martin's 3rd time hosting, while Baldwin will be making his debut. This will be the first show since 1987 to have multiple hosts. Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn and Paul Hogan split the duties that year.

-The World Series resumes play tonight with game 6 at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx. Tonight's starting pitchers, Andy Pettitte, and Pedro Martinez are going to party like it's 1999. The two starters are a combined 75 years old. Speaking of old people, did you know Tim McCarver has a CD of great American songs? If that doesn't top your Holiday Shopping list, I don't know what will!

Before we get started, I just wanted to remind everyone to follow 8 Hours to Kill over on our Twitter Page. I will periodically throughout the day post links over there. Also it's a great way to get a link sent in, quick and easy (that's what she said).

-It is Election Day across America. Millions of people around the country are headed to the polls today to vote in the off-year elections. CNN gives us 10 Races To Watch from around the country.

-If you haven't seen the video of Spurs guard Manu Ginobili swatting a live bat out of the air on Halloween night, do your self a favor and check it out. The video itself is worth the click, but the fact that he had to get a rabies shot afterward, and then apologize to all the bat lovers across the country pushes the comedy even higher.

-Have you ever wanted to be on a 25 story high billboard in the middle of Times Square? Well, it might be cheaper than you think. American Eagle will give that opportunity to anyone who makes a purchase in their new Times Square location. The company will put a picture of you, as well as a 50 character message on the sign for as little as a $6.50 pair of socks. I wonder how Jackie Chiles would feel about this?

Guess who's back? Back again..... After taking a short break to take care of some business I'm very happy to announce that the blog dedicated to getting you through your work day, school day, or your Monday, is back. I probably will be changing things up ever so slightly from the previous format. Instead of posting things under a Sports headline, or Entertainment, I am just going to find the best links that I can and get them all in one location for you.

As an added wrinkle for 8 Hours to Kill 2.0, I invite all of you to follow us on Twitter. Just click here to go to the Twitter page and make sure you follow us for all of our latest updates. I'm thinking that I will still do a morning post (tentitively scheduled to go online around 10 MST each morning), and will throw different links out on Twitter that are sent in throughout the day, or that I stumble across online. -Worried about getting the H1N1 Virus? Well according to Kellogg's your morning bowl of Cocoa Krispies might just save your life. The FDA is still investigating whether or not Kellogg's is violating any laws with "false advertising".

-Anyone who knows me, knows how passionate I am about remembering 9/11. So it was a no-brainer for me to link to this article that is talking about the U.S.S. New York returning "home". The ship was made with 7.5 tons of steel that was taken from Ground Zero, will be officially commissioned on Saturday. Very cool.

-Need goosebumps? The crew of the U.S.S. New York recalls where they were when they found out about the 9/11 attacks.

-This article nearly had me spitting coffee on my table while reading the USA Today this morning. A 78-year old man describes how new technologies are killing communication. A must read!

-In case you were ignoring your television this weekend, Brett Favre returned to Green Bay this weekend. The Green Bay Press Gazette has an entire section on their website dedicated to just this weekends Packers/Vikings game. Think they care much about local football? As of posting this the game story on there website has a mere 1,328 comments on it.

-The Yankees have taken a commanding 3 games to 1 lead over the Phillies in the World Series. During Saturday's Game 3, Alex Rodriguez hit a ball off of a camera lens in right field. Originally called a double by umpires, A-Rod was awarded a home run after the umpires used instant replay to review the play. This was the firs time in World Series history that instant replay has been used to over turn a call on the field.

-The bigger story about the overturned home run, is why haven't I seen a replay of from the camera that was hit by the ball? I mean Fox can show us 438 different angles of Charlie Manuel, and Joe Girardi, but I can't see a replay of a home run coming into my living room? C'mon Joe Buck make this happen!

-Last night's Lakers/Rockets game showed exactly why I love watching the NBA Playoffs so much. 5 technical fouls, and 2 ejections were just part of the story last night at the Staples Center. Derek Fisher absolutely had a cheap shot on Luis Scola. There is very little doubt in my mind that he is going to be suspended for Game 3 on Friday night. The Inside the NBA crew breaks it down right here. Ron Artest continues to be one of the most entertaining nut jobs in the Association. Watch his post game comments on his ejection from last night's game, I promise it is worth the time.

Update: I was just told by a friend of mine that Ron Artest apparently applied for a job at Circuit City after his rookie year just so he could use the employee discount. This just keeps getting better and better.

-Rajon Rondo had a triple-double last night to help lead the Celtics past the Magic in Game 2 of their series. Obviously the only reason the Celtics were able to hold on in this game was because JJ Redick fouled out with 4:46 remaining. Had he remained in the game he would have started hitting 30 footers like he was back in college and brought Orlando right back into the game. Believe it.

-American Idol is down to their final 3. I'm not going to post who was kicked off, just in case there are readers who have last night's episode recorded at home. Oh yeah, that and I haven't watched this show in 6 years so I couldn't tell you any of the people's names.

-Last week I mentioned the reality TV show, Jon and Kate Plus 8. Who knew that mentioning it on the blog would lead to such a media blitz? If you've never seen the show, well first of all good work, but you might want to check it out just to see how crazy Kate is. I'm never going to condone cheating on your spouse, but it wouldn't surprise me if Jon was hanging out with some women who were actually sane.

-Do not, I repeat DO NOT mess with Jack Bauer.

News
-President Obama has provided a more in depth look at his 2010 budget. Obama is calling for cuts that will trim $17 billion from the U.S. budget. There are 121 federal programs that the President will cut funding for, including many in the defense department.

-Ahhh, nothing quite like the occasional porn star running for a senate bid in Louisiana. Stormy Daniels is apparently on a tour through the state to see if there is support for her to potentially run against current senator David Vitter. How many jokes will the late night talk shows get out of this?

-Today's link is sent in by... ME! I saw this picture over at the Uni Watch Blog and couldn't help but want to share it with the world. Check out Mark Sanchez' helmet. Sanchez was the Jets first round draft pick, and should compete for the starting QB job this season. Good times in the Big Apple.

-Lisa R. sent in this video which shows 5 very talented young girls singing the National Anthem at a Texas Tech/Texas men's basketball game. If this doesn't give you goosebumps you might want to check your pulse.

-Two upsets last night in the Association. The Orlando Magic went into Boston and defeated the Celtics 95-90. The Magic iced the game on free throws by J.J. "Mariano Rivera" Redick. Yeah I said it. J.J. had 12 points in his second consecutive start for Orlando.

-Behind 28 points and 10 rebounds from Yao Ming, Houston went to the Staples Center and beat the Lakers 100-92. Kobe Bryant scored 32 points for the Lakers, but of course he needed 31 shots to get that done. Houston dodged a bullet when Bryant and Yao knocked knees in the 4th quarter. After heading into the tunnel and loosening up again, Yao returned to help seal the deal for the Rockets. Game 2 is Wednesday night in L.A.

-It appears that rookie American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi will be back next season. Simon Cowell told Ellen DeGeneres at a taping of her talk show that the new Idol judge will be back for next season. Hooray.

-Is the season finale of Scrubs going to be the series finale? According to show creator Bill Lawrence, it may be. Lawrence will be departing after this season, as will co-star Zach Braff. The only reason I mention this is for you Jason A. I know you are a Scrubs fan, although I'm not sure why, but read the article and let us all know what you are feeling.

News
-According to Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke, the US Economy should start to recover by the end of 2009. Bernanke says that the economy will bottom out sometime this later this year and begin to turn upward. However he warns that there will be some more bumps along the road, aka more job loss, and the further diminishing of your 401K, and Roth IRA. Not that I'm keeping track or anything.

I've been looking for a 2nd news story to link, I can't find anything that I think is interesting enough to post. So take that news world! Come up with something better for me and I'll link it!

-Mike C. sends along three videos for us today. The first may be NSFW due to language, but it is pretty freaking funny. More from Axis of Awesome, which he mentions led him to this video.

-Chris B. sent in this newspaper article highlighting what may be one of the most creative Senior Pranks of all time. Chris mentions to us that this is from a rival high school of his, so kudos to him for giving props to a rival. Good luck in Houston Chris.

-After seven overtime periods, multiple last second shots, and hundreds of Sideshow Bob jokes the greatest first round series in NBA Playoff history came to a close on Saturday night. The Celtics defeated the Bulls 109-99 in Game 7 to advance to the 2nd round. Like I said last week, you know it's a good series when my wife is planning our Saturday night dinner plans around watching the game.

-According to a report out of Cleveland, LeBron James will be named the 2008-2009 NBA MVP. James averaged 28.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists in the regular season, and helped lead the Cavs to an NBA best 66 wins. I'm just going to take a shot in the dark and say that this will be the first of many for the King.

-51-1 long shot, Mine That Bird, captured the 2009 Kentucky Derby. 153,563 people crammed in to Churchill Downs to watch the race. Mine That Bird returned $103.20, the 2nd largest return in Derby history, and the highest since 1913.

-NBC announced their fall lineup this morning. Heroes, Southland, and Parks and Recreation are among the shows that the Peacock is planning on bringing back for the fall. They will join Celebrity Apprentice, The Office, 30 Rock, Law and Order SVU, The Biggest Loser, and Friday Night Lights as returning shows. No word on whether or not Chuck will be picked up for another season. I'm on pins and needles.

-The new X-Men movie pulled in $87 million to capture the box office crown this weekend. Matthew McConaughey's romantic comedy, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past came in 2nd with $15.3 million.

-This weekend's movie was The Soloist. Very solid movie, I thought Jamie Foxx, and Robert Downey Jr. were both fantastic in their respective parts. Highly recommend checking out this flick.

News
-A man traveling through the Texas panhandle may have found the original recipe for Dr. Pepper. Bill Waters purchased a tattered old ledger book for $200. According to estimates it may fetch as much as $75,000 at auction later this month. Dr. Pepper says that the recipe in the book is not the current secret recipe for the drink, but did not comment on whether or not it was the original recipe.

-We are all going to die. The Swine Flu is everywhere, and apparently we need to cancel all sporting events. What a joke.

-Chris B. sent us in a couple of dandy's today. I'm not sure if any of you have read the Club Trillion blog by Ohio State basketball "player" Mark Titus, but it's a classic. After declaring himself eligible for the 2009 NBA Draft, Titus has been forced to withdraw his name. This has, of course, drawn some national attention. If you have the time I highly recommend going to Club Trillion and surfing through the archives. Great way to kill some time at work today.

-What an unbelievable game last night in Chicago. The Bulls defeated the Celtics in triple overtime 128-127. You know it's a good NBA game when my wife sat through the 4th quarter, and 3 overtimes without throwing the remote at me and asking me to change it to Jon and Kate Plus 8.

-Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson both had great first rounds at the Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte. Both are making their first appearance since the Masters 3 weeks ago. This could lead to some exciting golf on TV over the weekend.

-Headed to the movies this weekend? X-Men: Wolverine hits the big screen this weekend, but according to Entertainment Weekly, you might be better off saving your money.

-Early leader in the clubhouse for Sunday Morning Movie Madness this week is The Soloist. Has anyone seen this? Is it worth the time to go and watch? Feel free to leave a comment.

-Big ups to Bill Bellamy for being elected to the Rock 'N' Jock Basketball Hall of Fame. If you didn't watch those games back in the day on MTV and wonder if you could make a 50-point basket, I say you're crazy.

-Supreme Court Justice, David Souter plans to retire when the court recesses in June. Souter was named to the nation's highest court in 1990 by then President George H.W. Bush. I guess that means another job opening which can only be a good thing in today's economy.

-Hey, here's a shocker. The popular diet pill, Hydroxycut, has been recalled by the FDA after reports of liver damage. Man, I thought for sure that just taking a pill and not changing any diet or workout habits was our country's cure to obesity. What a joke.

I went to Panda Express today for lunch, good times, I know. My meal (half chow mein, half fried rice, manderin chicken, and orange chicken, along with an oh so delicious Diet Pepsi) cost $9.01. Instead of just spotting me the extra penny, the lady working the register thought it would be a good idea to give me 99 cents in change.

-Another fantastic night in the NBA Playoffs. The Bulls and Celtics are quickly playing a series that will be shown on ESPN Classic for years to come. Dallas eliminated the Spurs last night which is good because now I don't have to listen to the terrible PA announcer in San Antonio shouting "HERE COME THE SPURS!"

-Lots of people are weighing in on whether or not Dwight Howard should be suspended for throwing an elbow at Samuel Dalembert. The Inside the NBA crew breaks it down right here. It will be real interesting to see whether or not the Association hands down the suspension to one of its marquee players.

-Just what I wanted to read today, another Brett Favre story. Seriously, just retire and leave me alone!

-Ferris Bueller is having twins! Actor Matthew Broderick and his wife Sarah Jessica Parker are expecting twins through a surrogate. Broderick is currently starring in a Broadway musical, while his wife is filming a movie and also preparing for the Sex and the City sequel due out next summer.

-The hot girl from Utah was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars last night. Chuck Wicks and his partner and Utah native Julianne Hough were booted from the ABC reality dancing show. I still have never seen an episode of this show. Have you?

-There are now 91 confirmed cases of the Swine Flu in the United States. A 22 month old Mexican boy has died from the disease after receiving treatments in Houston. Make sure you read the last paragraph in this article to gain some perspective on the "outbreak".

-There are lots of reports out today about President Obama's first 100 days in office. I found this slide show from MSNBC. There really are some fascinating photos of our Commander in Chief, I highly recommend checking this out.

She sends in a link about some of the major problems facing NASCAR and their restrictor-plate races. After a major crash this past weekend at Talladega it remains to be seen what the sport will do to increase safety both for drivers and for the fans.

By the way, if I had to guess what links Jessica would send me, a NASCAR link would have been my 3,344,589th guess.

After this happened last night, I decided to use today's to mourn the end of the Jazz season.

To all the Lakers "fans" who decided chanting "Utah Sucks" in the final minutes of the game last night, you stay classy. I know coming from a Jazz fan that might sound ironic since we have been known for throwing items on the floor, but one moron does not represent us all. You had 20,000 chanting Utah Sucks last night at the end of a tightly contested series.

You had Lamar Odom, who is only playing well because he will be a free agent at the end of the playoffs, dunk and then take exception to a foul my Mehmet Okur while L.A. was up 10 with under 20 seconds to go.

You had Kobe and Derek Fisher get in Ronnie Price's face after he said something about how bush league that was, and then Fisher put something extra into a foul on the other end which resulted in Price saying something to him and getting T'd up.

I respect Kobe's game, but I think one sign at the ESA last week summed up the Lakers and their best player:

-Too many links from the NBA Playoff games this weekend, so I'll just link you over to NBA.com's Playoff Coverage. Nice to see Detroit put up a fight in game 4 at home against Cleveland... eh... not so much. Double OT classic in Chicago, looks like we've got a series there. Houston is one win away from advancing to the 2nd round, good thing T-Mac is hurt, they might actually win. Kobe... psh.

-The most over hyped, and overrated event of the year happened over the weekend, the NFL Draft! How excited am I that I no longer have to watch NFL live 4 months before the start of the season? At least we got to watch Erin Andrews do what she does this weekend. Oh, and yes that's former Provo Angels outfielder Quan Cosby with her.

Entertainment
-Beyonce is number 1 at the box office. Her new movie, Obsessed, pulled in $28.5 million to capture the box office crown. Zac Efron's movie, 17 Again, came in 2nd place with a respectable $11.7 million.

-This weekend's movie for me was Observe and Report. As much as I like Seth Rogen, this was BY FAR his worst movie. No point, and lots of wiener. Not a good combo.

-Sad news from Hollywood over the weekend, former Golden Girls actress, Bea Arthur died at the age of 86. Arthur won two Emmy Awards, and was best known for playing Dorothy on Golden Girls.

-There have been 73 confirmed cases of the Swine Flu around the world over the weekend, 40 of in the United States. The European Union Health's Commissioner has warned against travel to Mexico. President Obama has stated that the outbreak has caused for a heightened state of alert. Yikes.

-Good news for Verizon Wireless customers, apparently the wireless company is in talks with Apple to sell the iPhone as early as next year. Apple's exclusive deal with AT&T runs out next year, the question will remain whether or not that deal is extended.

We are a little delayed in getting today's post up, but an 8:40 tip for the Jazz playoff game last night didn't exactly help me get out of bed this morning. Remember to check back this afternoon for the Moron of the Week. Any who... onto today's headlines.

-Oh man! What a game last night at the EnergySolutions Arena! The Jazz fought back from 13 down in the 3rd quarter to win game 3, 88-86 over the Lakers. The ESA was rockin' last night, and the two teams did not disappoint. Can't wait to hit up game 4 tomorrow night!

-Elsewhere around the Association, Dallas pounded the Spurs 88-67. San Antonio Coach, Greg Popovich pulled his starters halfway through the 3rd quarter, and after the game instead of yelling and screaming, took the team out to dinner.

-In Chicago, the Celtics blasted the Bulls 107-86. Rajon Rondo led Boston with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Talk about filling out the box score. Chicago shot just 38% in the game from the floor.

-Comedian Jay Leno has canceled tapings of the Tonight Show for the first time in his 17 years on the job. Leno checked himself into a California hospital for an undisclosed illness. According to reports Leno is doing well, and should be out of the hospital soon.

-British singing sensation Susan Boyle apparently has gotten a makeover. After appearing on Britain's Got Talent and becoming an internet sensation nearly overnight, Boyle has decided to clean it up. Good for her. Hopefully the peeps in England will still give her the respect she deserves for her talents.

-The US Treasury announced today that it has given General Motors $2 billion more in bailout money. The Treasury said that this will give the company some working capital. Uh... you think?

-Hmmm... what to use for the middle name of your child? How about Bear? Apparently a Colorado woman is going to use Bear as the middle name for her unborn boy or girl after she was chased by a furry fella in the hills outside of Colorado Springs. Oh don't worry, the story gets better. While she was running away from the bear she was hit by a slow moving car. Although she was taken to the hospital for evaluation it appears that both she and the baby are doing fine.

Not So Much...

So every morning I prepare for my post by looking through certain websites (I'm sure you can tell which ones based on the links I provide), this morning while doing my daily browsing looking for stories I couldn't come up with anything. Seriously, there isn't much to post about today. Did the world not do anything yesterday? I mean, I know that I didn't, but what about everyone else?

I did catch up on 24 last night. While I never will post spoilers on here, I must say that if you've never watched the show do yourself a favor and pick up the DVD's and plow through them. I wont' blame you for skipping season 6, but the other seasons are all fantastic.

-It's such a great time of year to be an NBA fan. The Playoffs continued last night with 3 games. The Cavs tried to blow a 29 point 4th quarter lead, but LeBron James wasn't about to let that happen. The King had 29 points and 13 rebounds to lead Cleveland to a 94-82 victory over Detroit.

-One of the most underrated players in the Association helped lead the Blazers to a 107-103 win over the Rockets. Brandon Roy dropped in 42 points and 7 rebounds for Portland. Roy may be underrated, but his teammate Greg Oden continues to be one of the most overrated players in the land. Oden played 11 minutes last night and had 4 points and 4 rebounds, 3 of which were offensive. Not a bad line, one that you'd probably be happy about as a fan, but it's quite easy to get 4 boards when you record 6 fouls in 11 minutes jumping all over everyone! Ugh, I will have another rant on him one day soon.

-This never happened. It's a good thing I spent 4 hours in a sports bar watching what didn't happen last night. That may need to be my destination for all future Jazz Playoff games.

-The Govenator may make his return to the Terminator series. With the 4th installment of the movie series coming out in May, the California Governor doesn't have the time to film any scenes, but the producers of the movie are working on using him image from the earlier Terminator movies to put into Terminator: Salvation. Good work California.

-American Idol judge, Paula Abdul told Dateline that she has never been drunk in her life. Eh.... so you're telling me that you are just that stupid naturally? I'd rather think you were drunk on the air as opposed to just being a moron. I'm just saying.

-The CFO of struggling financial company, Freddie Mac, was found dead of an apparent suicide at his home in Virginia. David Kellerman was 41 years old, married with a young daughter. Truly just another sad story of our economic problems. Police are investigating Kellerman's death.

-President Barack Obama is in Iowa today to discuss his alternative energy plan on Earth Day. Obama is expected to tour a wind energy plant and also take a look at trying to create more jobs based on the plant which was closed down in 2007.

-Another fine night in the NBA Playoffs last night. Tony Parker helped the Spurs even their series with the Dallas Mavericks. Parker dropped in 38 points in the victory.

-Ray Allen dropped in a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left to help Boston even their series with the Bulls. Allen had 30 points to out duel Chicago's Ben Gordon who dropped in 42.

-Interesting story out of our nation's capital. The Washington Nationals have fined and benched outfielder Elijah Dukes for being late to Saturday's game against the Marlins. Dukes was late to the game because he was speaking to a group of local little league players, and signing autographs for them. Dukes was paid $500 for his appearance which the team did not sponsor. The local little league group has offered to pay the fine for the young outfielder.

-Tonight Show host, Jay Leno, is giving another free show to those affected by layoffs. The comedy stimulus show will take place in Wilmington, Ohio. Thousands of people in the small town were victims of lay offs at shipping company, DHL. Leno has previously given free shows in Detroit for those that were layed off by auto companies.

-A Utah woman is trying to halt the production of the 2nd movie in the Twilight series, New Moon. No, my wife did not attack Edward on the set of the movie, Heidi Stanton has apparently filed a lawsuit against author Stephanie Meyer, saying that she came up with the idea for the vampire series while they were both students at BYU.

-Last week I mentioned that I hadn't ever really heard of a Pirate taking over a ship at seas until recently, and I blamed Johnny Depp for that. Well there is a reason why I've never heard of the problem, one of the Somali Pirates arrived in New York City yesterday for what could be the piracy trial in nearly a century. I wonder if Metallica and Napster are just happy that piracy is being used for something other than their lame battle in court a few years back?

-A Boston medical student is due in court today in connection with the slaying of a woman at a luxury Boston hotel. Phillip Markoff is accused of murdering a woman, and kidnapping and robbing another. Markoff would set up the meetings with these woman through Craigslist.

-Tons of great NBA moments this weekend. Instead of linking to each individual game I am just going to provide the link to NBA.com's Playoff Section. Quick highlights from the weekend, Derrick Rose leads the Bulls past the Celtics. The Sixers stun the Magic in Orlando with a last second shot. Miami gets blown out by Atlanta. Chauncey Billups makes everything to lead Denver to a victory, and I refuse to mention anything that may or may not have happened Sunday afternoon at the Staples Center.

-Mark Martin turned left better than everyone else yesterday in Phoenix. Apparently this is a big deal because he is old. Senior Citizens everywhere can now rejoice.

Entertainment
-The Screen Actor's Guild is ready to recommend a new contract to its members. The tentative deal still needs to be voted on by the members of the Guild, but if it is approved it will end the threat of Hollywood's actors going on strike later this year.

-Zac Efron is the king of the box office this weekend. His new movie 17 Again, captured the crown at the box office. The movie brought in $24.1 million according to studio estimates. State of Play came in 2nd place with $14.1 million.

-For what it's worth I watched State of Play yesterday and thought it was fantastic. Maybe one too many plot twists at the end, but definitely worth the money.

News
-Today marks the 10th anniversary of the tragedy at Columbine High School in Colorado. I can still remember leaving my Jr. High School and having my friends little sister telling me all about what happened. My thoughts are with the families of all those effected by the shootings a decade ago.

-Miss North Carolina, Kristen Dalton, was crowned Miss USA last night. Sadly I can say that I knew this from watching the show with my wife last night. I will now hand in my man card.

As usual there was some controversy from the pageant as Miss California honestly answered a questions about gay marriage. There is some question as to whether or not she cost herself a chance at the crown with her answer. Ohhhhh the drama!

Tough call this week. We had an actor beat up a photographer because he thought he was a zombie, another actor tell a 16 year old to make a sex tape and do drugs, and someone actually gave Isiah Thomas a job in basketball.

But we couldn't look past the first entry. This week's Moron is, Woody Harrelson!

Harrelson allegedly beat up a photographer while walking through a New York airport because he mistook the PERSON as a ZOMBIE. No joke.

He said he had just wrapped on his new zombie movie, and was still in character.

So... many... jokes... head going to explode!

-Boston Celtics General Manager, Danny Ainge, suffered a minor heart attack on Thursday. The former BYU basketball player, and Toronto Blue Jays baseball player is said to be resting comfortably at Massachusetts General Hospital. Best wishes to Danny for a quick recovery.

-The Yankees opened their new stadium yesterday, but they did not get the result they were looking for. The Bronx Bombers fell 10-2 to the Cleveland Indians. Jorge Posada was the first Yankee to go deep in the new ballpark, but it was a grand slam by Grady Sizemore that proved to be the difference in the ballgame.

-Ashton Kutcher has won his battle against CNN. No this isn't a lawsuit we are talking about here, Kutcher was the first to reach 1 million followers on Twitter. He proposed a challenge to his fans to make him reach the milestone before CNN's Breaking News feed hit the seven figure mark. I will now stab myself in the eye for providing this story to you.

-Susan Boyle, the Scottish woman who displayed her talents on the television show, Britan's Got Talent, says she is 'gobsmacked' by her overnight stardom. After appearing on numerous morning talk shows yesterday, the 47 year old woman says she would love to sing for the queen, but is really just enjoying the moment. Good luck to you Susan.

-Since when is posting a $966 million loss a good thing? Welcome to today's economy! Citigroup posted their smallest quarterly loss since 2007. The loss resulted in about 18 cents per share, which is nearly half of the original 34 cents per share that was projected. I guess in today's economic climate we will take what we can get, right?

-President Barack Obama is heading to the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad today just a day after the President lifted limits on visits by Americans to Cuba. Even though Cuba is not invited to the summit, it seems like the focus of Obama will be on Cuba.

-Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster, John Madden, has announced his retirement from the broadcast booth. Madden led the Raiders to victory in Super Bowl XI, has been a staple on NFL broadcasts since 1979. He has won 16 Emmy awards for his work. Of course he is known by more people around the world for lending his name to the best selling video game of all time, Madden NFL Football.

-It appears that Kevin Garnett may not be ready for the playoffs. Garnett injured his knee in February against the Jazz and has returned to play in 4 games since, but according to his coach, Doc Rivers, Garnett is not going to be ready to start the playoffs, and could miss the entire post season. This would be a huge blow to the defending champs, a potential Game 7 in Cleveland without KG is not a pretty sight for the men in green.

-Former American Idol, Fantasia Barrino, has landed a reality show on VH1. Seriously, is there anyone that VH1 will not offer a reality show to? I mean honestly, anybody who has appeared on another reality show is bound to get an offer for their own show on the network. I can't wait to see what they have coming out next.

-Actor Jamie Foxx has apologized to Miley Cyrus for a segment of his radio show when he talked about how the 16-year old star needed to "make a sex tape, and grow up". Oh geez, the nominees for Moron of the Week are through the roof this week.

News
-JP Morgan Chase announced today that it has posted a $2.14 billion profit in the first quarter of 2009. While the profit was 10% lower than last year's, it was still higher than originally expected. This is great news for the economy, especially coming only days after Wells Fargo announced a $3 billion profit in the first quarter. Hopefully these are small signs that the recession is on the way out.

-The crew of the Maersk Alabama has returned to US soil just a few days after their ship was taken over by Somali pirates. The crew returned to the states around 11 p.m. Mountain Time last night. The ships captain, Richard Phillips, did not accompany the rest of the crew back to the USA as he arrived in Kenya yesterday aboard the very ship that helped rescue him from the pirates.

-Just when I thought that Woody Harrelson is a shoe-in to win Moron of the Week, we have this story come out of Florida International. Yes that's right, Isaiah Thomas reportedly has been hired to be FIU's men's basketball coach. The Golden Panthers have just been demoted to silver.

-The Major League Baseball family continues to mourn. Less than a week after the tragic death of Angels pitcher, Nick Adenhart, Philadelphia Phillies long time broadcaster Harry Kalas has passed away at the age of 73. Kalas was found passed out in his booth at Nationals park a few hours before the Phillies took on the Washington Nationals.

-Also yesterday former American League Rookie of the Year, Mark 'The Bird' Fidrych, was found dead at his farm. Fidrych was only 54 years old.

Condolences go out to all those effected by the tragic events of yesterday.

-Renowned music producer, Phil Spector, has been found guilty in the murder trial of Lana Clarkson. The actress was found dead in Spector's mansion in February of 2003. Spector faces 18 years to life in prison. He will be sentenced May 29th.

-Mel Gibson and his wife of 28 years have filed for divorce. There is no indication that the couple had a prenuptial agreement, because of this Robyn Gibson, would be entitled to half of the nearly $1 billion that her husband has earned since they've been married in 1980. Yikes, that is one hefty check to write.

-Undeterred by the killing of 3 of their own, pirates have hijacked 4 more ships in the Gulf of Aden. Is it just me, or did these pirate attacks not get as much publicity as they have this year? I am going to place blame on Johnny Depp for beautifying pirates in his Disney trilogy. Yeah! That's it.

-Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke says that he sees tentative signs that the recession is easing. Before we get too excited, Bernanke does mention that a stabilization of the nation's financial markets and credit problems will be the key to ending the recession. As anyone with any money invested will tell you, that could take a while.

-On the 2nd playoff hole, Angel Cabrera captured his first green jacket Sunday at The Masters. Cabrera defeated Chad Campbell and Kenny Perry in the playoff to win his 2nd career major. Tiger Woods, and Phil Mickelson put on a show for the first 16 holes before collapsing on 17 and 18. The world's #1 and #2 golfers came from out of nowhere to finish 5th and tied for 6th respectively.

-In what has become and underrated rivalry, the Angels won a wild game Sunday to take 2 out of 3 from the Red Sox. After Josh Beckett uncorked a pitch over Bobby Abreu's head, two different bench clearing brawls ensued. For the Angels hitting coach Mickey Hatcher, outfielder Torii Hunter, pitcher Justin Speier, and manager Mike Scioscia were all ejected. Hopefully the Angels can translate some of their regular season success to the playoffs should these two teams meet again.

-Woody Harrelson attacked a TMZ photographer last week, claiming that he mistook the man for a zombie. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! HAHAHA! Oh, boy, I smell a moron of the week nominee. His publicist issued a statement that Woody was still in character from shooting a zombie movie. Maybe Woody should have realized that there was no catering department at the airport. What a great story!

-After making a surprise visits in 2 different movie theaters, including one in my home state, Miley Cyrus captured the box office crown for the weekend by bringing in $34 million.

-For what it's worth, I saw Adventureland over the weekend. I give it two very enthusiastic thumbs down.

-Captain Richard Phillips of the Maersk Alabama has been rescued by U.S. Navy SEAL snipers. In a daring rescue effort, snipers were able to fatally shoot 3 pirates that were holding Captain Phillips, and rescue him after he gave himself up as a hostage in order to free his crew. I'm thinking that next time, the pirates probably won't be as cordial to whomever it is that they capture.

-According to the top U.S. military commander in Iraq, the United States should be out of Iraq by late 2011. General Ray Odierno told CNN's John King, that on a scale of 1 to 10 that it is a 10 that the US will be out of the country by 2011.

Moron of the Week

It was no contest this week. Meet Andrew Thomas Gallo of Riverside, CA. Gallo was driving a minivan Wednesday night with a suspended license when he sped through a red light and slammed into a silver Mitsubishi and killed 3 of the 4 people in the vehicle. Gallo was driving on a suspended license from a previous drunken driving arrest, his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit in California at the time of the accident. After hitting the vehicle Gallo fled the scene on foot, only to be captured 30 minutes later.

While there are 2 other people who were killed in the accident, obviously the death of Nick Adenhart has hit home.

Andrew, you took away someones child, someones sibling, niece, nephew, and grandchild. You took away a lot of peoples friend, including one of mine. Like most people in the world, I just want to know why?

-Obviously yesterday was a tragic day in the world of sports. Angels rookie pitcher, Nick Adenhart, was killed by a drunk driver in Fullerton, CA after making his first start of the year just hours before. There are so many links to post for stories about Nick, but the one story that we all need to read is right here. Bill Shaikin from the LA Times, wrote a fantastic piece about Adenhart's father Jim. Truly a must read. RIP Nick, as a buddy of mine said last night, heaven's pitching staff just got a whole lot better.

-The greatest 4 days in golf are underway. The 2009 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia teed off yesterday. You can follow the live scores by clicking here. I love sitting on the couch on Sunday and watching the final round of the Masters.

-Actress Farrah Fawcett has been released from the hospital following treatment for internal bleeding. The bleeding is not related to her cancer which she was diagnosed with in 2006. She seems to be in good spirits according to reports, and is happy to be home.

-Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are expecting their first child. The couple who have been married for 6 years are reportedly very excited for Gellar's fall due date. Congratulations to the couple.

-According to a CNN report, the captain of the ship that was hijacked by pirates off of the Horn of Africa, tried to escape, but was recaptured in the water. Apparently he was unharmed in the escape attempt, but no word on his condition now that he is back on the ship.

-After sending quite a scare through e-mail users Hotmail has fixed their e-mail problems and the e-mail provider is back up and running. Apparently when you logged into your account it the website told you that your address no longer existed, and required you sign up for a new address. Nothing like sending panic through internet users all around the world.

-I never really thought I'd be starting a post talking about Women's College Basketball, but here we are. The University of Connecticut's women's team completed an undefeated season last night with a 22 point thrashing of Louisville. The Huskies improved their record to 39-0 for the year, and won every game by double digits. What a dominating year. Congrats to UConn.

-Sticking with college hoops, Oklahoma forward Blake Griffin has declared himself eligible for the upcoming NBA draft. The reigning college basketball player of the year is projected to be the number 1 overall pick in this June's draft. Talk about a no-brainer.

-Kumar is going to the White House! Actor Kal Penn has been named to the Office of Public Liaison for President Obama's administration. The actor played Kumar Patell in the Harold and Kumar movies, as well as a doctor on the Fox TV show, House, will not be retiring from acting, but will take a break as he works in Washington for the immediate future. Much to my dismay this all but eliminates any hope we had for Harold and Kumar 3. At least we found out that smoking with George W. could lead to a future in our nation's capital.

-Guess who's back? Back again, Shady's back... Rapper Eminem is back with a new video. The video for the first single off his new album "Relapse" has the rapper firing away at celebrities all across the board. Reminicessent of older videos from Eminem, this one takes some low blows at some high ranking celebs. Enjoy.

-In a field that was once considered to be "recession proof", it seems that tech jobs are forecast to decline by 1.2% this year. With the economy taking its toll, many companies are being forced to reduce the number of jobs they have in their tech departments. According to the report that I have linked above however, tech jobs could bounce back in 2010.

-Life Insurers may be next in line to receive bailout funds. There is a lot of information in this article, that goes way over my head, so I'll just let you click on the link above and let's just go from there.

-As much as I hate North Carolina, it is nice to see a group of guys come back for their senior year and win a National Championship. The hated Tar Heels knocked off Michigan State 89-72 last night in Detroit to capture their 2nd crown in 5 years.
Not surprisingly Tyler Hansbrough was NOT named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, that honor went to Wayne Ellington. I hope Tar Heels fans are ready for "Psycho T" to play 10 minutes a year in the Association next year.

-Quite possibly the greatest Hall of Fame class of all time was announced at the Final Four yesterday. The list included Michael Jordan, David Robinson, John Stockton, Jerry Sloan, and C. Vivian Stringer. I don't know if we will ever see a class in any sport that rivals this one. The greatest player of all time, one of the greatest big men in league history, the greatest point guard of all time (sorry Magic fans, just look at the numbers), and two of the greatest coaches in their respective games ever. Congrats to all.

-Singer Chris Brown pleaded not guilty on felony assault charges yesterday in an LA court. The charges stem from an argument that turned violent between Brown and his girlfriend, Rihanna. You stay classy Chris Brown.

-Speaking of staying classy, DJ Samantha Ronson's family is seeking a restraining order against her ex-girlfriend Lindsay Lohan. The couple reportedly has split up after numerous fights, and public spats. I'm surprised I was able to sleep last night after worrying so much about them.

Business
-According to reports, General Motors is in earnest preparation for possibly bankruptcy. The company has talked about preferring to restructure out of court, but they would go to court if needed. Rough times for sure in Detroit.

-In a little bright news out of the auto industry, Ford Motor Company has reduced their debt by 38%, or $9.9 billion. The news was well received by share holders who sent Ford's stock up 13%.

No links to post today. First day back at home after 2+ weeks in Arizona doesn't leave me much time for a post. So what I have decided to do is post a comment that was left by Chris Bernal from Friday's post about the Broncos trading of Jay Cutler.

As a lifelong Broncos fan, it's seriously a give/take sort of thing. Denver doesn't tolerate well players who think they're bigger than the team (I know some might argue Melo is like that, but it's more of inflammatory quotes & just a lack of malaise toward the community/media & Melo keeps to himself pretty well that way). So Cutler can say all he wants to that he wanted to stay in Denver, but if that's the case, he should fire his agent and/or anyone on his PR staff.

As for McDaniels & Bowlen, I think they (privately) would acknowledge a few missteps on the issue. If you're going to trade a Pro-Bowl QB, you sure as heck better get who you're going after. If not, you've gotta know it's going to blow up in your face. And once it DID blow up, McDaniels should know he's not Belichik yet, so a little humble pie would go a long way.

However, having vented all of that, having five picks in the first three rounds sure will fill a lot of holes. Sure, Orton isn't the answer in Denver, but he'll fit nicely into the system for a year. And that extra #1 might be nice next year too with the Bears receiving corps of a bunch of minor leaguers.

Here's my biggest qualm with the whole matter: All along, I thought it would've made more sense to hire a defensive-minded coach (Rex Ryan or Steve Spagnuolo anyone?), then just not mess too much with the offensive staff of the Bates' & Cutler. McDaniels comes from good pedigree, but so did Romeo and Charlie Weis.

What does it all mean? McDaniels better win, and he better win NOW. If not, don't expect another run like Shanahan's.

-That was quick. The Denver Broncos found a taker for disgruntled quarterback Jay Cutler in the Windy City. Cutler was shipped to the Bears for a plethora of draft picks, and QB Kyle Orton. The Broncos will receive Chicago's first round pick this year, and next, as well as a 3rd rounder this year. Did Chicago give up too much? Did Denver steal some draft picks? Leave some comments below, and let's discuss.

-Penn State is your 2009 NIT Champions. The Nittany Lions defeated Baylor 69-63 at MSG to capture the crown. If you had Baylor winning in the tournament in your office pool then congrats! Unfortuantely I had Davidson and Creighton in the finals... Guess my NCAA tournament and my NIT brackets both were terrible. Yikes.

-Tim Floyd has apparently gone crazy. He has turned down Arizona to stay the head coach at USC. Floyd stated that he wanted to stay at an elite program, but apparently he forgot that even when the Wildcats are terrible (i.e. this year) they still get preferential treatment and make the big dance. Moron of the Week potential? Not quite, but stay tuned for that announcement later this afternoon.

-Nothing like a 5th season of listening to a bitchy mother yell at her husband all day long. TLC's Jon and Kate Plus 8 will be returning for it's 5th season. Despite rumors that Jon has left Kate and their 8 kids, TLC has decided to pick up the show for another year. I couldn't be ~~happier~~.

-122 Emmy nominations later, ER has aired it's final episode. The medical drama of all medical dramas came to a close after 15 years on NBC. I wish I could tell you anything about the finale, and the show in general, but I've never watched it. I bet somebody died, and somebody got saved though. Mmmm... I wonder what will happen next week on Grey's Anatomy?

-The Sex and the City sequel will hit the big screen in May of 2010. It appears that all of the stars of the hit HBO TV show are signed on for the project, and the only remaining holdout from the first movie is Jennifer Hudson. She says she would love to do the sequel, but an offer has not yet been made.

Business
-Since the beginning of 2009 over 2 million jobs have been lost. Ouch! In the month of March alone there were over 663,000 people who lost their jobs. The unemployment rate in America is now at 8.5%, which is the highest since November of 1983. Scary stuff.

-It appears that Google may be in talks to buy Twitter. Like I mentioned the other day, I have never used Twitter, and despite some pressure to try it, I don't plan on it anytime soon. But when a company like Google is interested in purchasing the software you have to figure that it is going to be an online staple for years to come.

-Anyone need a QB? Apparently Jay Cutler is available. After a rough off-season between the Broncos and Cutler, the team has finally decided to officially put the disgruntled quarterback on the trading block. According to his agent, Cutler has no desire to be the starting quarterback for the Broncos anymore.

-Just how good is LeBron James? I still don't think that we know. This guy is going to take over the Association like no one ever has before. Not even Michael Jordan. James led the Cavs to their 13th straight victory with a 79-73 win over Detroit on Tuesday night. James scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Cleveland, who has the best record in the East all but wrapped up for home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Good luck to all the other teams in the league, Lakers included, in beating LeBron in a Game 7 at the Q.

-Like I mentioned yesterday, John Calipari is headed to Kentucky. Coach Cal has accepted an 8-year $31.65 million deal. Calipari will try to lead the Wildcats back to the NCAA tournament which they missed for the first time since 1991.

-Ahhhhh yes. It's still nice to have a BlackBerry. Quickplay is set to offer BlackBerry users the ability to watch full length TV shows on their BlackBerry device. There will be a $7.99 subscription fee per month, and the device will need to be connected via a WiFi connection to download, but this should be something that is very highly downloaded when it is made available, which may be as early as today.

-NKOTB. New Kids on the Block. They're back! The original boy band is set to embark on another tour starting in May. The band reunited last year for a brief tour, and have announced that they will be back on the road for a 34 stop tour in the summer of 2009. Tickets go on sale as early as Monday morning.

-Pending home sales have risen during the month of February. The National Association of Realtors reports that pending sales of homes rose 2.1% in the 2nd month of the year. The number was at a record low coming into the month, so I guess it had nowhere to go but up. Any news is good news right now about the economy though.

-President Obama has stated that world leaders need to agree on some tough new rules to help stimulate the world's economy. Speaking at the G-20 summit the US President stated that they "cannot afford half-measures" as they are trying to address the global financial crisis. The President says he is absolutely confident that the meetings will help lead to the up turn of the economy.

-It appears that John Calipari is close to finalizing a deal with the University of Kentucky to become their new head basketball coach. The Wildcats fired Billy Giliispie last week after missing the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1991. The deal for the current Memphis head coach could be finalized as early as today.

-Tyler Hansbrough, and Blake Griffin were named to the AP's All American Team. Griffin received 71 first team votes to lead the country. Hansbrough was the first UNC player to be named to the All-American team in back to back years since some guy named Jordan did it in 83 and 84. Man I hate Hansbrough. Have fun sitting on the bench in the Association.

-We named Robert Powell as our Moron of the Week last Friday. Today Texans' running back, Ryan Moats, accepted Powell's apology for delaying Moats and his family while his mother-in-law was dying of breast cancer. The Moats family has shown nothing but class in this situation, they released a statement today accepting the apology as well as saying thanks for all of the sympathy that has been pouring in from around the nation.

-Did you know that Jack Bauer has a twin sister? How about goddess Scarlett Johansson having a twin brother? Ashton Kutcher? Yep, he does too. I had no idea that so many celebs were twins until I read this story. Too bad Scarlett doesn't have a twin sister. Mmmmmm, two Scarlett's!

-Apparently Twitter is taking over Hollywood. With all the recent stories of athletes "tweeting" from the locker room at halftime, it seems only fitting that actors, producers, and directors would start doing the same from their sets. I don't know why, but I've never even look at Twitter. Maybe I will just type shorter posts every morning. I know I could fit all of the links that get sent in to the site in a 140 character message.

-The company that owns the Chicago Sun-Times has filed for bankruptcy. Over 120 newspapers in the country have shut down since January of 2008. Not a good sign for aspiring writers out there.

-Get ready for some extra money in your next pay check. President Obama's stimulus package will start to benefit you by the time your next paycheck rolls in. You can expect an additional $15-$30 on each pay check thanks to the tax credits that you will be receiving for being employed. It may not sound like a lot, but that's a free tank of gas each month!

-The Final Four is set. UNC punched their ticket by defeating OU, they will face Villanova who won a game for the ages against Pittsburgh on Saturday. The other National Semifinal will feature Michigan State, after their bracket busting (at least for me) victory over Louisville, and UConn. The Huskies defeated Mizzou to advance to the Final Four. C'Mon UConn!! They are my only hope left for any profit from this year's tournament.

-Tiger, Tiger Woods y'all! He's baaaaaaaack! Tiger returned to his winning ways with a one shot victory at Bay Hill this weekend. Woods rolled in a 12 footer for birdie on the 18th hole to capture his first victory of the 2009 season. I can't wait for the Masters to start in 2 weeks.

-Jimmie Johnson turned left better than anyone on Sunday. Unfortuantely Paul Menard took 25th, and did not win me any money. Oh well!

-Got $150 million to spare? if so you can buy Candy Spelling's manor in Los Angeles. It's only got 56,000 square feet, and is compared to a mid-sized hotel. Of course you will need the army of gardeners and security personnel. But don't worry you can unwind in one of the multiple pools, or screening room. Athletic? Well then hit the tennis court. Maybe my bracket should have done better.

-Rapper T.I. was sentenced to 1 year and 1 day in jail on weapons charges. T.I. purchased some machine guns and some silencers. Apparently he grabbed those along with some bread and milk on the way home. Peace out T.I., peace out!

-Monster's vs Aliens captured the weekend box office title by raking in $58.2 million. Click the link to check the rest of the box office numbers for the weekend.

-General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner has resigned at the request of the Obama administration. GM, and Chrysler were both given failing grades by Obama after they received $17.4 billion in tax payer bailout money. Both companies will have 30 and 60 days respectively to show to the President that they can turn it around before they receive any more bailout money.

-This is going to be a big week on Wall Street. After a few weeks of gains, giving investors hope that the economy is starting to turn around a new batch of reports will come out reporting how the unemployment rates and other related numbers are doing. If the reports show that there were fewer jobs lost in the last month it could be a sign to investors that the economy is turning around, and stocks may shoot up. It will be worth keeping an eye on.

Moron of the Week

It was a close call this week for Moron of the Week. It was between me (for not posting this until so late in the day), and our eventual winner, Robert Powell.

Powell was the police officer in Dallas, Texas who stopped and delayed Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats while he, his wife, and other relatives were rushing get to the hospital to be with his mother-in-law who was on her death bed.

Moats reportedly rolled through a red light and was pulled over in the parking lot of the hospital. When told what was going on Powell responded that he could "really screw him over".

What a good guy. Welcome to the Moron of the Week club!

-The NCAA Tournament returns today! Remember you can watch every game all day long online for free at CBSSports.com.

-Yahoo! Sports is reporting that UConn's men's basketball team violated NCAA rules in their recruitment of Nate Miles. Among the allegations are that UConn provided Miles with an agent. While not acknowledging the allegations coach Jim Calhoun did not deny them. Let's just hope that this doesn't stop them from doing big things in the tournament (a.k.a. I might have picked them in a pool to win the tournament that could be worth some straight cash homey).

-NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, is going to propose an 18-game schedule to owner's in May. Citing the lack of needing 4 pre-season games Goodell would like to expand the current 16-game schedule. I'm sure NFL fans all over the country are salivating at this thought.

-Entertainment Weekly has provided us with their list of 24 TV shows that were cancelled too soon. Somehow, one of my all time favorite shows, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip did not make the list. Any shows that you think should have made it? Disagree with EW's picks? Leave a comment below.

-A man was arrested for attempting to break on to the Dancing with the Stars set. Apparently the man was hoping to meet Olympic champion Shawn Johnson. He was carrying a weapon with him as he tried to meet her. I'm not a security expert (at least not any more), but carrying a loaded weapon onto the set of one of the most celebrity filled TV shows on Earth, is probably not the best way to gain access. Just a hunch though.

-Dolly Parton is addressing the long time rumors about being a lesbian. Parton has been rumored to be lovers with her long time best friend Judy Ogle. However Parton claims that she and Ogle are in love, but not like that. She has been married to her husband, Carl Dean, for 43 years.

-The number of laid off American's has risen to a new record high. There have been 652,000 first time applicants for unemployment insurance, up from 367,000 just one year ago. Ouch. Hopefully some of the news that has been rolling in about the economy starting to pick up will help out all those in need.

-While electronics stores like Circuit City were going out of business in the 4th quarter of 2008, Best Buy posted a better than expected 10% increase in sales. Best Buy is expected to open 65 new stores in 2009.

-The 2nd edition of the World Baseball Classic came to end in dramatic fashion last night. Ichrio Suzuki had a 2-run single in the 10th to lead Japan to it's 2nd consecutive WBC championship. Boston Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka was named MVP for the 2nd consecutive year as well. It seemed to me like this year's WBC was more in the spotlight than the 2006 games. Maybe because Team USA reached the semifinals it got more press in the country. It will be interesting to see who decides to play in the 2012 games for the American team.

-Red Sox pitcher, Curt Schilling, became the first athlete to announce his retirement on his blog. Schilling was a part of 3 World Championship teams (2 in Boston, and 1 in Arizona), and played in another (Philadelphia 1993). He has been one of the most outspoken players of his generation through his blog and his weekly radio appearances on WEEI in Boston. Now comes the debate, is he a hall of famer?

-Late Show host David Letterman married his long time girlfriend Regina Lasko last week in Montana. The two begin dating in 1986! They have one son together who is named Harry. 23 years of dating finally led to a marriage. Mmmm.... and my wife was getting antsy after just 5 years of dating. See honey, we were pretty much on the fast track!

-Jack Bauer will be back for an 8th season. Thank God! Kiefer Sutherland announced yesterday that he will be returning for an 8th season of one of the best shows in TV history, 24. Sutherland did mention that it will be up to the writers to figure out how long the show will stay on TV, but I mean c'mon, who could actually kill Jack Bauer? Thank goodness for TiVO!

-Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke wanted to sue AIG to prevent it's top executives from receiving bonuses. Bernanke and Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner are making an appearance on Capital Hill this morning to discuss the AIG bonuses among other things like the toxic assets that I linked to in yesterday's post. When will the AIG bonus news just go away?

-Lots of new rumors about the latest hardware changes for the iPhone. I have read some blogs where people are real excited about all the new changes for the iPhone, but my question is, why didn't they just have some of this stuff on the original hardware? I realize that you can download the new software changes free of charge which excites people, but why weren't they upset when it wasn't on the phone to begin with? Ahhhh.... BlackBerry!

Weekend Update

What a weekend in sports. Everything from the NCAA Basketball Tournament kicking off to the WBC winding down this has been one of the best sports weekends of the year.

-How's your bracket doing? The Sweet 16 is set. Arizona is the lowest seed still remaining in the tournament, after upsetting Utah in Round 1 and defeating Cleveland St. in the 2nd round. I will say that I have 14 of the 16 teams remaining as well as all of my Elite 8 still in tact. Knock on wood, it could be a good weekend coming up.

-Team USA fell to Japan in the semi-finals of the 2009 World Baseball Classic Sunday night in L.A. The Japanese team will now take on Korea in the finals as they try and repeat as champions of the WBC. Korea is coming off a gold medal performance in Beijing at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Should be a great game.

-Kyle Busch turned left better than anyone on Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway. Kasey Kahne finished in 5th which was 4 spots below where I needed him to finish to win our Nascar pool. Oh well.

-Sad news from across the pond. British reality TV star Jane Goody has passed away following a very public battle with cervical cancer. Goody was famous for starting on the British version of Big Brother. She is survived by her new husband Jack Tweed, and her two sons Bobbie (age 5), and Freddie (age 4).

-Knowing has captured the weekend battle at the box office. The Nicolas Cage movie brought in $24.8 million over the weekend. I Love You Man starring Paul Rudd came in 2nd, and was followed by Duplicity which starred Julia Roberts. I haven't seen any of them, but feel free to comment below if you have.

-Today Show host Matt Lauer was absent from the set this morning after flipping over the handle bars while riding his bike in New York over the weekend. Apparently a deer jumped out in front of Lauer forcing him to slam on his brakes and he flipped over the handle bars. What a guy won't do for a day off!

-The Treasury Department has unveiled a long awaited plan to remove troubled assets from the books of many banks. The plan calls for our tax dollars, along with money from private investors to buy up the toxic assets that come from many bad mortgages and other loans.

-Struggling with your finances? Well fear not my friend, the world's cheapest car is not far away. The "Nano" (no Steve Jobs did not create the vehicle) will sell for around $2,000 when it debuts this summer. I'm sure you will get your money's worth.

-Team USA used a dramatic 3-run comeback in the bottom of the 9th inning to defeat Puerto Rico and advance to the WBC semifinals last night in Miami. David Wright blooped a base hit into right field and set off a huge celebration on the field. It's games like this that will help get the WBC on the map.

-Just a fantastic story here about a disabled veteran meeting Team USA after the game in Miami.

-I love this story. President Obama has filled out an NCAA Tournament bracket for ESPN. There were times when I thought how cool is it that President Bush had an ownership stake in the Texas Rangers, and now how cool is it that our Commander In Chief is filling out a bracket just like the rest of us? It definitely makes it easier to relate to someone in such a powerful position when they do things just like we all are doing.

-New Jersey Devils goalie, Martin Brodeur is now the NHL's all time wins leader. Brodeur broke the record that was previously held by Patrick Roy. By the way the NHL also canceled their season a few years back. Morons!

-Belinda Carlisle is the casualty of this season's Dancing With The Stars. Steve Wozniak was the other "star" in the final pairing, but he was spared another week. PHEW!

-Watch out Hills fans, Audrina is leaving! Audrina Patridge has told MTV that she will not be back on the "reality show" after the upcoming 5th season. She has instead signed a deal with Mark Burnett productions that will find other ways for her to exploit her "celebrity".

-It's probably not a good thing when your Chief Executive calls your bonuses "distasteful". But that's exactly what Edward Liddy said of the bonuses that his company paid out to its executives. However he does feel that the company has to uphold those bonuses due to contracts it has in place. This will make for a very interesting debate on the hill.

-David Friehling, accountant for Bernie Madoff, has turned himself in to authorities on charges that he falsified numbers, and lied in the scandal that has Madoff facing charges of up to 150 years in jail. Ouch.

-Houston Rockets forward, Carl Landry was shot in the leg just after 4 o'clock this morning in downtown Houston. Police say that the shots were fired at what may have been an attempted robbery, or a drive by shoot, or a combination of the two. I don't get it. Why on earth would you be out in downtown Houston after 4 in the morning? Oh by the way the Rockets team charter arrived from New Orleans at just after midnight. Landry is expected to miss up to 2 weeks.

-Speaking of morons in the NBA, check out this story about Nets forward, Sean Williams. Apparently Williams got upset with a clerk in a cell phone store in a Denver mall, and figured the best way to show his anger would be to pick up a monitor and throw it across the store. I mean, why wouldn't you do that? Stiff competition this week for Moron of the Week. Check back on Friday for full results.

-Tony Award winning actress Natasha Richardson has suffered serious head injuries in a skiing accident in Montreal. Richardson's husband, Liam Neeson, has left the set of his current movie in Toronto to be by her side.

-The train wreck that is Amy Winehouse has pleaded not guilty to assault charges. Allegedly Winehouse hit a fan at a charity ball in September. I'm sure her P.R. team loved that.

-Senate Democrats have vowed to take away bonuses that were given to AIG executives. $165 million of the bailout money that was given to AIG were handed out in bonuses to top executives at the company. Senate Democrats have threatened to tax those bonuses at up to 91%. Ouch.

-iPhone Software 3.0 is on the way. Some no-brainer upgrades should finally make their way onto the Apple cell phone. Copy and pasting, MMS (picture messaging), and tethering are just a few of the options that are rumored to be a part of the upgrade.

-Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth hit and killed a man with his car over the weekend in Miami Beach. According to reports toxicology reports are being ran as we speak, and the results should be expected within the next week or so. Apparently Stallworth was headed to the beach when he hit 59 year old Mario Reyes. Really a sad story.

-March is officially upon us! Sure the calender has shown that it is March for the past 2+ weeks, but it really becomes official when the NCAA's Men's Basketball Brackets have been released. I can promise you right now that next March, if we are still up and running that we will have an 8 Hours To Kill bracket showdown. There is no better way to kill time at work then to fill out your brackets. Take it from me.

-Ho hum, just another ACC Championship for my Blue Devils. Make it 17.

-3 people were arrested in New York City on Saturday after a brawl broke out during an audition for America's Next Top Model. Apparently the girls at the audition found out that if they did well they would actually have to appear on the show.

-Radio personality Don Imus has announced that he is suffering from prostate cancer. Imus made the announcement on his radio show this morning. Imus is perhaps most well known for a racist comment he made about the Rutgers woman's basketball team in 2007.

-Comedian Jay Leno, has added a second free show to his comedy act in Detroit in early April. Leno's shows will be free for anyone who is currently unemployed.

-Ever wonder what the homes of billionaires look like? Well this article from Yahoo! finance will have your answer. Nothing like having a gold plated door.

-Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernake says that the recession could end in 2009. According to Bernake if the government succeeds in bolstering the banking system, Americans could see an end to what is being called the worst recession since the Great Depression.

-President Obama has extended a life line to small businesses. Obama says that the White House is going to make it easier for Small Business owners to get the loans that they need to help their businesses succeed.

I know some people have been trickling into the blog over the weekend probably wondering what what it is all about. So, I figured for the weekend post I would again try and explain what the blog is all about. Basically what I am trying to do is gather some of the best links online and post them in one spot because let's face it, we all have 8 hours to kill every day.

I have for the past little while been posting primarily sports links. I think for the upcoming week I am going to change it up a little and have a sports section, an entertainment section, and a news section, plus of course any links that you all send in.

-6 overtimes. That's what it took for Syracuse to knock off UConn in the Big East quarterfinals last night/this morning at Madison Square Garden in New York City. I have posted the highlights from ESPN.com because I can't describe this game any better than they did.

-Mark McGwire did a rare interview with the New York Times for today's edition. In the interview McGwire talks about his role as a hitting tutor for 4 current MLB players. McGwire agreed to the interview only when told he would not be asked about the steroid controversy.

-Ho, hum, just another triple double for LeBron James. The Cavs won for the first time in the LeBron era at Phoenix last night. James scored 34 points, dished 13 assists, and grabbed 10 rebounds. This may be the only guy in the league that could average a triple-double for an entire season. This was his 3rd consecutive triple-double.

-Michael Phelps did an interview with NBC that will air on Dateline this Sunday night. In the interview Phelps talks about the night where he was photographed smoking out of a bong. Phelps apologized for the photo, but never acknowledged that he was smoking marijuanna out of the device.

-The Atlanta Hawks continued their streak busting ways last night by putting an end to the Utah Jazz 12 game winning streak. Joe Johnson had a huge first half scoring 21 points, and the Jazz seemed to run out of gas at the end. Utah did not score a field goal in the final 5:02 of the ball game.

-We all should move to Delaware. According to a report in the latest ESPN The Magazine, Jack Markell, the state's Governor is expected to propose a bill that would legalize sports betting in Delaware. Interestingly enough the Governor thinks that legalizing sports gambling could help cut into the states $700 million deficit.

-Red Sox closer, Jonathan Papelbon, didn't hold anything back when talking to Esquire about former Sox slugger, Manny Ramirez. Papelbon remarked that Manny "was on a different train", apparently that train was on course for Los Angeles.

-Someone finally broke down exactly what gets done in an 8 hour work day. See folks, their should be plenty of time for you to send me some links!

-Ahhhhhh yes! More Gus Johnson. Man I can't wait for the NCAA Tournament to start.

-Maybe my favorite headline of the day: Nerd Wants $1,000,000 for lost XBox.

According to a report on SportsImproper.com Roger Clemens was injected with steroids not only in his high rise apartment in Manhattan, but also in the jacuzzi in the Yankees clubhouse. Yikes, I hope that Yankees Clubhouse Manager, Rob Cucuzza put some extra chemicals in the hot tub when Clemens was done.

-If you don't think the players are taking the World Baseball Classic seriously, then you missed the fantastic game between the Dominican Republic, and the Netherlands. The Netherlands defeated the Dominican team in the first meeting of the WBC for both teams. Now the winner between the teams will advance to Miami for the 2nd round. No way the Dutch team can pull off an upset of such a star studded Dominican team right? WRONG! Thanks to a throwing error on a pick off play by Carlos Marmol, and an error with 2 out in the 11th by Willy Aybar, Netherlands is going to Miami. What a great game.

-It appears that the San Diego Chargers, and running back LaDanian Tomlinson have agreed to terms on a new deal that will keep the fantasy football legend in SoCal for the next 3 years. Tomlinson agreed to the restructured deal to help allow the Chargers to have more cap room, and thus have the ability to improve the club for the future.

-Oh, the Clippers. You would think a 19 point lead at home in the 4th quarter would be enough for these jokers to win a game. Not so much. LeBron James recorded a triple-double and the Cavs came back to win 87-83. It was only the 3rd game of the season that the Clippers have sold out, and it was the first that wasn't against the Lakers. Eeks. Sorry Mr. Sterling.

-I told you in Tuesday's post that the Lakers had resolved to violence in their loss at Portland on Monday night. Well a suspension has come down from New York. Lamar Odom, not Trevor Ariza has been suspended for 1 game. Odom was suspended by the league for leaving the bench area. While he did not escalate the situation he leave the vicinity of the bench earning himself a one game suspension without pay. Rudy Fernandez, the recipiant of the flagrant foul has been released from a local hospital.

-Sports Illustrated gives us a nice illustrated (what else?) view of Shaquille O'Neal and his greatest quotes throughout his career.

-It appears that America is still happy with the election of Barack Obama. That's probably a good thing. It probably wouldn't be a good sign of things to come, if 50 days into his Presidency he wasn't liked by the public that voted for him. Just a quick FYI, at the same time of George W. Bush's Presidency his approval rating was 3% lower than Obama's is now. Where's Keith Olbermann when I need him?

-Jay Leno is giving back to the people of Detroit. Good for the Chin.
